Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich VETOES legislation on malpractice reform.
He says bill 'light' on tort reform, imposes tax that would affect consumers; But Democratic lawmakers confident governor will be overridden tomorrow.

"ANNAPOLIS -- Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr. today vetoed a medical malpractice bill passed by the predominantly Democratic legislature, saying it would do little to restrain spiraling insurance costs for doctors while imposing a tax on HMOs that would be passed on to consumers.

"It's tort reform light and a tax on working families," Ehrlich said. "It's a very small step proceeding in the right direction."

The bill was endorsed by state associations representing doctors and hospitals, and Democratic leaders plan to try to override the veto when they meet on Tuesday.

"I think it's likely to be overridden. The doctors support it. The hospitals support it," said Sen. Brian Frosh, D-Montgomery. "I don't think there's anybody in the governor's corner any more."

6. A good example?
He wants the laws to be even tougher. He's the worst thing to happen to Maryland in a long time. Well, I've only been living here for six years, but I cannot imagine anyone being much worse.

Ehrlich, the little bitch.
I just hope we don't get Duncan next, he may be a Dem but he never met a development project he couldn't approve.

Since the link is inaccessible to me, do you know what the bill entails?

Edit: Here's another link, I don't think this requires registration: <http://www.startribune.com/stories/484/5178826.html>

5. That's thing about having a (R) governor in a Democratic state
That's why so many Marylanders, Rhode Islanders, Massachusettsites and Californians feel comfortable with a Republican governor. Democrats control the legislatures in those states, in some cases by veto-proof margins, so there is only so much damage the governor can do.

7. Ehrlich, the corporate boytoy
He is so owned by the lobbyists and corporate interests. There's not even the pretense that he's got a mind or agenda of his own. His masters are the ones who wrested the election away from Kathleen Townsend, who would have been a terrific governor.

His wife is the one who publicly wished Britney Spears "dead" after one of her (Britney's) escapades. The wife was pregnant at the time, and said her hormones got the better of her.

I say her hormones probably ARE the best of her, the skank.
