Kerik says ignore press, then does
PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Scandal-scarred former police commissioner Bernard Kerik told corrections convention-goers to ignore critics and go their own way if they want to succeed.

"Take the challenge. Ignore the critics. Ignore the press," he told about 600 people at the winter conference of the American Correctional Association. "Don't cower to criticism. Good will prevail over evil."

Moments later, he took his own advice and declined after his half-hour speech to discuss such boiling topics as whether he lied in court about his relationship with a Correction Department underling, and why he intervened while correction commissioner for a city contractor under investigation.

(snip)

"As you know I withdrew my name from nomination for secretary of homeland security," he said. "I've had 40 or 50 people come up to me in the last 24 hours to say, 'Why?' Not 'why did you withdraw,' 'what made you want to accept a job in the public sector?' Keep in mind you're all in public service ... You do it because it's the right thing to do."

1. He's telling jailers that it's them against the world
They do it for the public, but hate the public. They're "good". One of those "uninters".

2. Why is he telling them that? I was quite sure they already did
He most eloquently stated "Good will prevail over evil"

(a kinder, gentler torture, US justice style)

3. Always slays me when......
They break out the whole "good v.s evil" line. Sounds awful good the the ear i reckon. But whats good and whats evil? No one ever bothers to make the distinction, as for each man and woman it's different. To some Jews are evil, to others homosexuals are evil.....but what about the corporate scum that steal billions from us? What about a person who lies to gain money or a position of power?

For the thinking person i don't feel good v.s. evil will ever cut it. Such an abstract human thought is waaaaaaay to subjective to what each person thinks and feels. I mean hey, i am considered evil by some just because i smoke marijuana and advocate it's use. Yet to many of those same people the pharmaceutical giants who hide reports of faulty drugs, the FDA who helps cover for them, are not evil?

Oh well i would take a moment to that the ancient Persian Zoroaster for the whole good v.s. evil concept. It was so good and useful that if he did not invent it someone else would have. His concept allowed for wars based on the concept of saving people from evil.

4. Bernies profile and speaking price just went UP with the Neocons
They respect someone who is hated by the left. I'm sure Kerik is demanding more money for his speeches than he did before. Only bad publicity is no publicity. That applies to politicians as well as entertainers.
