Lawsuit Over Ohio Voting Dropped
By ANDREW WELSH-HUGGINS, Associated Press Writer

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Three dozen voters challenging the presidential election results in the Ohio Supreme Court asked to drop their lawsuit Tuesday, saying it is moot with last week's certification of the electoral vote and the upcoming inauguration.

Citing fraud, lawyers representing 37 voters on Nov. 2 had asked the court to examine several problems with voting procedures in the hopes of overturning President Bush (news - web sites)'s victory in the state.

The election turned on Ohio's 20 electoral college votes, and not until preliminary results were available early on the morning of Nov. 3 did Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry (news - web sites) concede.

Chief Justice Thomas Moyer of the state Supreme Court must still rule on the motion to dismiss the case, and is expected to go along with the request

17. Not moot?
They're spending all that $ on the innarguration coming up, I think the battle is over, we lost. Sucks and its wrong, but nothing is going to change that now, time to come to terms with that and focus on 08 or it'll eat you up. I slipped into the Slough of Despondency myself in mid Nov and didn't open my blinds for a few weeks and wouldn't take calls, I can't imagine what it would feel like now if I didn't let go, but its just something you gotta do or its only going to feel worse and worse the longer it drags on.

18. I meant that the fraud itself was not moot
I just thought they were giving up on holding the bastards accountable.

But after reading JoMama49's post in 2004 Election, this makes more sense to me:

20. Accountability is impossible
At least from where I sit I have no hope of them ever making Bu$h pay any sort of fines, since the evidence is complicated, hard to understand, and sometimes a he-said/she-said.

This isn't the first election I've lost, although it is the hardest, but I think we set ourselves up to be laughed at as the "sore loserman" crap from last time times 1000. I took so much crap for that at work for a couple weeks afterwards, that it was over 130,000 etc, before I decided that fighting on this battlefield was only helping them enjoy themselves at the Senator and my expense. It was just hardey har har time for the Bushbots. Don't let them do that, the best justice is putting a Dem majority in the House in 06, otherwise refighting 04 they're never going to realize that our ideas are what we are fighting for, and those ideas are to be taken seriously.

8. He'll refile on bases of voter fraud, precluding those damages,...
,...which included basically overturning the election. That's why he's dismissing,...to refile in a more appropriate (federal?) forum.

15. eom means "end of message", a polite way to tell you
there is no text inside the post so you need not bother opening it. Some also use "ntn" or "nt" for "no text needed" to tell you the same thing.

12. Andy says this isn't a problem...Press release coming late today.
Others say it's okay if lawsuit is dropped because it wouldn't have gone anywhere and there's more in the Federal Courts which will allow evidence from other states into the picture.

21. Their dominance and certitude is frightening
"This lawsuit was going be dismissed by the Supreme Court..." said Mark Weaver, an attorney representing the Bush campaign.

Funny how the Bushinistas always say this now like it fell from God's own lips. The Supremes have been singing the Republican's tune so often you'd think Diana Ross herself had been seated on the court. Can't wait to see what morally bankrupt, hate-filled son of Draconia our prez endorses to replace Rehnquist.
