Man Pleads Guilty to Raping 37 Women

COLUMBUS, Ohio — A man accused of raping 37 women in Columbus, Ohio, has pleaded guilty during jury selection for his trial.

Robert Patton entered the pleas to 135 charges of rape, kidnap, burglary and robbery. He has confessed to media and police that he raped several dozen women in Columbus since 1987.

Patton is to be sentenced Wednesday. The prosecutor says he will recommend a 50-year sentence.

Robert Patton is the serial rapist that terrorized the area from 1993 (as I recall) through 2003.
