US Ends Fruitless Iraq Weapons Hunt

White House Says Iraq Weapons Search Over; Evidence That Bush Used in Argument for War Not Found

WASHINGTON Jan 12, 2005 — The search for weapons of mass destruction in Iraq has quietly concluded without any evidence of the banned weapons that President Bush cited as justification for going to war, the White House said Wednesday.

Democrats said Bush owes the country an explanation of why he was so wrong.

The Iraq Survey Group, made up of some 1,200 military and intelligence specialists and support staff, spent nearly two years searching military installations, factories and laboratories whose equipment and products might be converted quickly to making weapons.

White House press secretary Scott McClellan said there no longer is an active search for weapons and the administration does not hold out hopes that any weapons will be found. "There may be a couple, a few people, that are focused on that" but that it has largely concluded, he said.

6. And thousands...
... of families in Iraq have been torn apart, sometimes quite literally. It's amazing that these people can sleep at night, let alone continue with their agendas seemingly unfettered, perhaps even feeling more empowered.

2. More like weaponless rather than fruitless.
It was the fruits in Washington who got us into this mess.

For you young'uns...back when I was in high school, a fruit was someone who was not too smart.

3. On the other hand
They came across a whole shitload of Oil...

That according to the bush** admin could be used at some later time to power some unknown thing to do some kind of mass destruction stuff
and as such said Oil must be confiscated.
