Bush: U.S. Having Impact on Tsunami Aid
WASHINGTON - President Bush (news - web sites) on Thursday said American's military "is making a significant difference" for tsunami victims, despite demands by Indonesia that foreign troops leave the ravaged Aceh province by the end of March.

"There's a lot of talk about how some in the world don't appreciate America," Bush said. "I can assure you that those who have been helped by our military appreciate America."

He spoke with reporters briefly at the Pentagon (news - web sites) after a briefing on the war against terror and U.S. relief efforts in South Asia.

"Our military is making a significant difference in providing relief and aid and help and compassion for those who have suffered," said Bush, who was flanked by Vice President Dick Cheney (news - web sites) and Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld. "I am very impressed, Mr. Secretary, with how quickly we have responded and the assets you have ordered deployed to help these people."

After the briefing with his top national security advisers, which lasted more than an hour, Bush greeted more than 50 members of various branches of the armed services, who cheered his visit to the Pentagon.

2. Because, as a pathological narcissist, it's always "about him."

Nothing, absolutely nothing, is immune from self-centered exploitation from such a sociopath. Olympics? Not able to remain a 'mere' spectator, he just had to get in the middle of the athletes and make it about him. If anyone would attempt to deny him this 'supply,' they do so at their peril. It becomes more of an addiction than narcotics - a denial of his narcissistic supply is perceived by him to be threatening to his very existence. His 'self' literally cannot exist without a constant supply. When confronted by such a perceived threat, his retribution knows absolutely no bounds. This is a very dangerous person.

It's almost the polar opposite of autism. His appetite for attention and the reactions of others is insatiable. He cannot be left alone or off to the side. It's beyond his tolerance.

One of my fondest desires would be to see him tried, convicted, and sentenced to solitary confinement for his crimes against humanity. The meltdown would be awesome. Film at 11.

6. yup -- he's very petulant when he thinks he's being upstaged
Many examples of this, like when he was with the President of France and an American reporter ventured to ask a question in French. Bush couldn't even bear to see someone else, let alone a lowly reporter, enjoying the French leader's approval. (Bush, of course, never bothered to learn so much as "bonjour".) So of course he made a testy remark.

4. Ask the Iraqi people!
"I can assure you that those who have been helped by our military appreciate America."

Ask them Rummy, like you asked for questions from the military in Iraq!

5. Just curious - has our great leader
publically said anything about the California mudslide tragedy? Has our godly leader asked for prayers for our California citizens?

I try not to watch teevee so someone clue me in, please.

I did just watch "Duck Soup" and that movie has me going! Ah, Freedonia:

"We really think he should be king
And wear a crown and everything!"

8. I tend to doubt it...
Considering CA is a blue state...Rove wouldn't authorize any "sympathy" (ie crocodile tears) towards a terrorist mecca.

7. This article has a slightly different take..
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=615&e=3&u=/nm/20050113/pl_nm/quake_bush_dc
snip>
"Bush, initially criticized for a slow and limited U.S. response to the tsunamis that killed 158,000 across Asia, said he was "very impressed ... by how quickly we have responded" to deploy military equipment and personnel for the international relief effort"
snip>
"Bush pointed specifically to relief efforts of the U.S. military, which has taken an especially high-profile role in assisting tsunami victims in remote areas of Indonesia, the populous Muslim nation hardest hit by the Dec. 26 disaster."

So, he's saying we DO have a shitty reputation in the world? So, he IS using a terrible disaster where 150,000+ died to make himself look better or try and redeem himself? What a scumbag.
