Democrats bask in glow of Clinton.....(great pic)
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 07:57 AM by ElsewheresDaughter
bush* is DAMN PHUCKING LUCKY that there is a 22nd Ammendment!!!!

http://desmoinesregister.com/news/stories/c4789004/22247606.html

Indianola, Ia. - Former President Bill Clinton grabbed the spotlight of the 2004 presidential race Saturday, urging Democrats in Iowa to reclaim core domestic issues but remain strong on foreign policy as they challenge President Bush.

With more than 5,000 Democratic activists cheering him at Iowa Sen. Tom Harkin's annual steak fry near Indianola, Clinton also urged the Democrats to wage an aggressive nominating campaign, then unite behind the nominee next year.

"Folks, go ahead and fall in love, be for somebody," Clinton urged the crowd at the rain-soaked Balloon Grounds east of Indianola. "But when the primaries are over, let's fall in line."

Appearing with six Democrats running for the 2004 nomination, Clinton, who until now has counseled the candidates only in private, headlined Harkin's annual fund-raiser to offer his star power and advice to the field

"I promise you the American people, not 5 percent of them know . . . that they gave me a tax cut and kicked kids out of after-school programs, unemployed workers out of their job-training programs, students out of their student loans, took cops off the street," he said. "This is where we live, and Democrats have to win where we live."

snip
"Instead of uniting the world, we alienated it," he said. "In a world where you can't jail all your enemies, you have to make more friends and fewer terrorists. We can't grow strong around the world if we grow weaker at home."

1. This was a brilliant speech
You just can't look at Clinton without being struck by his charisma, geniune warmth and intelligence.

Oh well, to the good old days.

16. Clinton
Clinton was incredible. I'm so glad I taped it. He's what won us elections in 92 and 96, not the DLC.

19. Exactly ~ The DLC didn't make Clinton ~ Clinton made the DLC
Clinton is the guy that swayed all those voters not the DLC. Without Clinton the DLC would be just like they are now. Irrelevant. They are good for raising money and that is it. They need to stick to just that and let the politicing be done by the politicians.

25. Agree!
Clinton with his charisma and communication gifts can speak to a diversity of audiences--and most people come aways feeling like he told them just what they wanted to hear.

Without Clinton, the facade is off the DLC. Most people can see clearly where they stand--even their blatant trashing of the progressive "new deal" values of the democratic base. When the DLC can't hide behind someone like Clinton--they run into big trouble.

41. How do you propose they raise money,
since they are irrelevant? Shall they go knocking on corporate doors saying, 'We're totally irrelevant, but can you give us some money so we can help get people elected who hate your guts and want to destroy your corporation?' Total fantasyland.

36. He was wonderful! He looked great (lost weight)
I tapeed this and have replayed it at least twice <yes, I am VERY sick>

I had the opportunity to see the "Big Dog" at the Univ. of Florida about 6 months ago and I was enthralled. There were about 10,000 people (mostly students) and he got a standing O from the time he walked out to speak. The man is incredible, personable, approachable. It was one of the greatest days of my life.

After the speech, there were hordes of people just yelling "Bill, Bill"....a day I will NEVER forget!

3. Simple caveat:
You can bet your bottom dollar when Bush goes down the pan, he'll drag Clinton down with him. Too many unanswered questions remain about Bill and Hill's past, however much 'good' he may have accomplished in 1992-2000. And there are those who have waited years to make Clinton crawl in public (the Monica business was just an opener). I guess it will be Hillary's turn next. She's walking a tightrope, but smiling confidently so long as Tony Blair is still running the show in the UK.................

11. Lord have mercy...
The only thing that has been examined more than The Clintons is, perhaps, Heroin. How many millions MORE must be spent?

Friggin' Clinton Bashers, who accept that they are the source of all evil in the world. What an utterly constipated worldview, considering the amount of information out there, regarding how this thing has been choreographed by a bunch of people with too much money and too little measurable sanity.

Get. Over. It. Now. It was attempted, at no small cost in public funds. It failed. Full Stop.

27. Dear emad, in the mood I'm in today,..
FUCK that.

I hope you were being sarcastic. If not, then more of what I just said.

Bush doesn't just make Clinton look good, he makes Clinton look FABULOUS! BRILLIANT! INSIGHTFUL! ARTICULATE! WISE! GENUINELY COMPASSIONATE! EFFECTIVE!! INSPIRED!!! And guess what - GENUINELY, LEGITIMATELY ELECTED - TWICE - (something bush will NEVER be able to say, even if he actually wins the next one) AND GENUINELY AND LEGITIMATELY POPULAR! Heck, the guy you sound as though you prefer probably can't even SPELL "compassionate!" So he certainly couldn't find it in the dictioary to determine its true meaning. Assuming he even owns a dictionary or knows how to read one without help.

What I said earlier. I'm in a mean mood. And pardon my FRENCH!!!

The only things bush has dragged down are the reputation, effectiveness, influence, treasury, and population of the entire United States of America, and very likely, the longterm health and well-being of our planet.

Besides, bush has already ensured your bet won't happen. Thaks to him, nobody will even HAVE a "bottom dollar" to bet with, in the first place!

31. And how will Dubya do that?
The Repugs gave it their best shots for eight years, and what came of it: "We held an impeachment and all we got was this lousy t-shirt." Yes, they diverted Clinton, and the U.S., from dealing with real problems; but how could Dubya 'drag Clinton down' any more than the GOP already long ago tried to do?

37. Just what the hell are you talking about emad? Bill and Hill's past?
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 11:28 PM by caledesi
So be specific...just what IS their past? Seems to me that they were not "Patrician" enough for the repugs, so they were after him from day one. Ironic, because the repug party always like to talk about the "American Dream"...well Bill Clinton WAS the American Dreasm.

Dysfunctional home, no money, high aspirations, worked hard...etc...didn't have the "pedigree" though....the repugs are so hypocritcal.

Let's talk about *'s past. Drunk, AWOL, inarticulate, totally ruined this great country of ours, divider NOT a uniter (take a look at the REST of the world...we are hated bec of this scum).

29. Thank you for that photo
During President Clinton's two terms he
proved, by withstanding the most intensive
and prolonged and adversarial investigation
imaginable, that he is one of the most squeaky
clean pols ever.

If any of the BFEE got Starred, the info uncovered
would be hideous beyond belief: murders, voter fraud,
grand theft of every kind, lies about everything, oh,
and of course lots and lots of adultery.

Let's post lots more pix like this, and not let
forum trolls get us all riled. We know the worth
of the Big Dawg. He damn well tried and is damn
well trying to be the best President/Ex President he
can be. Unlike the fuckin' fascists who couldn't get
their piss poor puppet elected legitimately.

The very least we can say about Clinton is that he is a politician while what we have now are thugs/thieves masquerading as politicians.

Imagine what a low form of life one must be to have to masquerade as a politician!

Because if there were no presidential term limits, we'd still be stuck with Ray-Guns in the oval office.

He seems like such a statesman. A proud time to be a democrat.

30. It was a good speech, as were some by the candidates.
Gephart, Lieberman, and Sharpton didn't show.

Dean was great, as were Kucinich and Mosley-Brown. Graham repeated what he'd said in the Baltimore debate.

Clark somehow didn't make it; but the Clark people were working the crowd.

As some of us were waiting for our bus next to the low fence around the field, Kucinich came toward us with a couple of aides in tow. He looked over to where the crowds were sloshing through mud to exit through the gate, got an impish look in his eyes, and hopped over the fence, followed by the aides. I loved it.

39. I only caught part of Big Dawg's sppech at Harkin and part of his
speech at the LA Baptist Church.

If anyone has links to the transcripts of both I'll send
ya hugs and kisses.

At the Church, when they were cheering him and cheering him
he put his head down and kept it there, and then lifted up
and said with a straight face, "Ya know, in church you're supposed
to be humble, but if you don't calm down, you're gonna make me think
I'm President again"

They roared. They loved it. I loved it. And damn, we ALL WISH HE WAS
President again!

Charisma, a 164 IQ, down to earth, common sense, libido, - now that's
a President of the United States and the WORLD loves him, with the exception of lowlife rethuglicans.
