Pakistanis urged to conserve gas after attack

ISLAMABAD, Jan 13 (Reuters) - Authorities in Pakistan on Thursday urged consumers to conserve gas after supply from the country's largest gas field was cut in a bloody attack by militant tribesmen seeking regional autonomy.

The call came as officials said it could take another day or two to complete repair work on the main purification plant at central Pakistan's Sui gas field and restore supplies.

Supplies to industry have been disrupted by the closure of the plant in Baluchistan province operated by state-run Pakistan Petroleum Ltd damaged when tribesmen stormed it on Tuesday.

As many as many as 15 people died in the clashes.
