Bush Regrets Language That Hurt U.S. Diplomacy
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=584&e=1&u=/nm/20050114/pl_nm/bush_bluntness_dc

<snip>
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush said he regretted sending the wrong impression of the United States when he used phrases like "Bring 'em on" and "dead or alive" in his first term and pledged to be more diplomatic.

In an interview with ABC's Barbara Walters to be broadcast on Friday, Bush said some of his past remarks were too blunt.

"'Bring it on,' was a little blunt," the president said in a transcript of the interview released on Thursday.

"I remember when I talked about Osama bin Laden, I said we're going to get him dead or alive. I guess it's not the most diplomatic of language," Bush said.

Notice how he needed Laura by his side, to make him look softer and more compassionate.

He really doesn't give a shit what people think about him.

GEEZ. And people actually voted for this guy?

Blah,...blah,...blah,...

I really didn't MEAN to hurt (killing and injuring hundreds of thousands of human lives) anyone.

I "thought" I was doing the "right" thing (as I made sure all my cronies profitted off all that public wealth and debt,...and I, for sure, will never be worried about economical survival for the rest of my limited days).

So, see,....I am "humble" and do "care".

144. And with Indonesia's largest
and moderate Moslem organization (NU, with at least 50,000,000 strong members!) having been pissed by Dumbfuck's invasion of Iraq, it's potential that this country might harbour future Moslem terrorist associates, in addition to Iraq now! Surely his ambassador Boyce had reported to him about such dangerous possibility and that Indonesia's approximately 10% Christian population (including yours truly) had been put in jeopardy because of his blood thirst! It's damned hard to comprehend that nobody in the US Congress has started voicing openly about impeaching him now that it's confirmed that there's no WMD in Iraq and that he's been lying to the American people ALL ALONG! His lies have costed almost 1,400 (one thousand four hundred!) American lives, injuring (permanently) some 10,000 of them so far, and hundreds of billions of US$$$$$$$... and counting...! Even we in Indonesia are dumbfounded by the indifference of America's general public and the lack of fighting spirit it has been showing in this matter. :(

My husband is Indonesian! :hi:

P.S. Please don't think no one is fighting or underestimate what we are up against in a corporatocracy. Democracy works for the many, but captitalism only works for the few. And it works exceptionally well for them. Hence the demise of democracy in the United States. Americans have become colonial subjects of their own capitalistic government. Whatever the solution for that, it is not a simple one.

125. YOU SAY MORAN I SAY MORON!
Edited on Fri Jan-14-05 03:52 PM by DUBYASCREWEDUS
Whether you say "Moran" or "Moron" I think we can all agree on the definition:

MORON (AS A NOUN): a person of subnormal intelligence; changeling, cretin, half-wit, idiot, imbecile

MORON (RELATED WORDS): ass, blunderer, botcher, bumbler, bungler, butcher, fumbler, sad sack, butt, goat, laughingstock, stooge, chump, fool, schlemiel, sucker, lunatic, geek, oddball, cuckoo, fathead, goof, jackass, dork, jerk, turkey, clod, goon, oaf, stumble bum

Every day for 4 years I referred to him as a "Moron" at least once during the day. I think I need to upgrade to "Dumb ass Moron/Moran".

I can't think of a nicer place then spending the next 4 years trying to survive the hell that Smirking Chimp is going to foist upon us. I am just a fledging poster. I truly enjoy all of the posts from those of you that have been around a long time. They are informative as well as entertaining. I don't know about all of you but I can't watch that Moron on TV for a nanosecond --- even if I have the mute button on! I feel the number one qualification for a President of the United States - at minimum - is the ability to think and speak in complete sentences! This one can't even read a teleprompter! I can't wait until 2008!

Let's work for a Democratic resurgence and takeover in Congress in '06 - so impeachment proceedings can actually get started. I, for one, don't want to have to wait until 2008. I don't want to think of the damage he could do - if given a full-length leash.

157. He probably assumes if he mouths enough of the acceptable words,
his worshippers will just connect the dots the way he's trying to manipulate them into doing, and they'll give him yet another in a continuing series of free passes. He's learned that if he goes through even SOME of the motions, his faithful will carry him the rest of the way - on their knees.

It's just play-acting. He's about as sincere in this "apology" as I am when I say I really admire the guy. Besides, it strikes me that this is more of an "I'm sorry you were offended by what I said..." kind of apology. Not - "I'm sorry that I offended you with what I said." And describing it as a little blunt isn't the same thing as calling it what it actually was: World-Class fuckin' USDA-Prime STOOOPID, thoughtless, reckless, EXTREMELY ill-advised, and just plain ol' WRONG. He is also now guilty of flip-flopping, AND "crawfishin'."

14. Here it is: the latest staged "drama"
1. A tape appears in which eevil moslem "terrists" chide Bush for saying "bring it on"

2. Of course, no one knows where the tape came from--and as usual no one questions its authenticity

3. Right on cue, Bush makes this statement: "Gee, I guess I was undiplomatic"... and we're supposed to read into that: "I'm just a rough-hewn man from the back country... kind of a rail-splitter type, like Lincoln... did I ever tell you all how I used to read by firelight in my family's primitive room in the Waldorf-Astoria... I'm just like you people... a real man of the people..."

4. Everyone smiles and thinks, "Gee, he's just one of us... not some guy from the rarefied rich..."

At least when Sam Ervin said "I'm just a little old country lawyer", he knew he was making a joke, and he knew people knew he was making a joke.

Back around 1950 when her little spawn-of-satan was a cub, all the little boys (and girls) were given cowboy stuff to play with. How cute. (retch!)

BTW, if you haven't seen the White House Christmas card at www.whitehouse.org, check it out if you want a really good laugh. It shows Bush as the Holy Infant, and Barbara is his lovely madonna... if you can imagine that... anyway, the picture made me laugh till my sides hurt...

I should have said "we're gonna let him get away and ignore him while we invade a country with OIL!" That would have been much more honest (if not more diplomatic).

I've now added your words to my limited English vocabulary. LOL... :yourock:

Talking about impeaching this stupid lying bag of frog shit... there I have just borrowed your words... I said my part in the earlier comment that I made here. I know an impeachment is not easy but I earnestly hope it won't be long after the inauguration that million of Americans will take to the streets all over the country with their demand for it and that he'll suffer the worst humiliation an American president has ever had! Worse than Nixon did!

Funny and desperately true. But it won't work. And I love bashing bush and his evil cronies but it won't work. Just insulting won't bring them down, and it might even bring us down (god forbid!) to their level. They will still be in power with their fake apologies and everything. The pen may be sharper than the sword, but only when used intelligently.

29. his "lack of diplomacy" wasn't the worst of it
In fact, his "apology" for being "too blunt" sounds like he is saying that he regrets that the girly men around the world are too delicate for his he-man straight-talk.

The trouble is not that he was "blunt," but that others bore the consequences for "bring 'em on," that "dead or alive" shows contempt for our American system of law and justice, which is made all the more egregious because he still hasn't brought OBL to justice, and has, in fact, said that doing so just isn't a concern anymore.

So it's not lack of diplomacy, it's that he sounds like a jerk who's nothing more than talk and bluster.

Do you think Barbara's gonna get him to cry? Doesn't she always get her interview-ees who apologize to cry?

things wrong with his statements that I don't even know where to start.

Quote:
"'Bring it on,' was a little blunt," the president said "

A little blunt!!?

Idiotic? Always. Irresponsible? Abso-fucking-lutely. A slap in the face to every soldier and his or her family? Damn straight. But a little blunt? Good lord, what a moron.

-------------

Quote:
"...pledged to be more diplomatic... "Our public diplomacy efforts aren't ... very robust, and aren't very good, compared to the public diplomacy efforts of those who would like to spread hatred and ... and vilify the United States," Bush said. "

Don't strain yourself, Georgie. Refraining from shouting "Bring it on" isn't exactly going to make you the next Ghandi. And stating publicly that your diplomacy efforts suck EVEN WORSE than terrorists organizations really sets the bar high, don't it?

--------------

Quote:
"But he said he thought U.S. efforts to aid victims of the Dec. 26 Indian Ocean tsunami would help improve Washington's image abroad. "

Yeah, offering $15M, then $30M, then $350M (only after a huge public outcry) is really going to get you LOTS of brownie points. Especially when your coronation, er, inauguration is costing $40M.

----------------

Quote:
"Turning to domestic politics, Bush played down expectations that his brother Jeb, who is governor of Florida, would someday run for president.

"I don't think he's interested in running," the president said. "

Translation: "Jeb doesn't want to deal with the whole bothersome "election" process. When I'm crowned Emperor, I'm just going to name him as my successor when I get bored with running the world."

I'm sure that our 1,300 dead troops, the over 10,000 wounded, and thousands of slaughtered and maimed Iraqis care about his "regrets".

I think he may actually be thinking of what the history books are going to write about him. It's not looking pretty.

And it's growing worse by the day. Mistake upon mistake.

The closest that * ever comes to admitting a mistake is always related to presentation- never any question that maybe his actions and policies are the problem. It's just that he's not "very good at communicatin' it", so other people are just misunderstanding him.

What a piece of work.

Fits very well with the message-management administration that believes what they do isn't up for debate as long as they can sell it properly.

I think, too, that Bush is boosting himself when he says he was "blunt." It's just part of his "I say what I think" tough guy facade.

They "explain" or apologize to the "swing voters" and those who are now questioning the war- and at the same time they maxamize the old talking point- they seem to be saying to the base- "How silly is this- I have to apologize for wanting to kill Bin Laden-those silly Liberals-wink wink.

Oh well, anything that'll piss off his supporters I suppose... "You mean he's apologizing for saying 'bring it on' - "no I don't think so, the liberal media is making it up" - "I can't believe he did that - I'm going to have to see it with my own eyes to believe it".

116. "Regrets, I've had a few,
but then again too few to mention
I did what I had to do
And saw it through without exemption.

I planned each charted course;
Each careful step along the byway,
But more, much more than this,
I did it my way.

Yes, there were times, I’m sure you knew
When I bit off more than I could chew.
But through it all, when there was doubt,
I ate it up and spit it out.
I faced it all and I stood tall;
And did it my way.

I’ve loved, I’ve laughed and cried.
I’ve had my fill; my share of losing.
And now, as tears subside,
I find it all so amusing.

To think I did all that;
And may I say - not in a shy way,
No, oh no not me,
I did it my way.

For what is a man, what has he got?
If not himself, then he has naught.
To say the things he truly feels;
And not the words of one who kneels.
The record shows I took the blows -
And did it my way!"

130. SEE THE RESISTANCE VIDEO THAT MADE HIM EAT "BRING 'EM ON"!
This has a lot more in common with the origins of our country than the BushProp machine would have us believe. This video appeals to the world to avoid US & British currency and products, to US Troops that they are not fighting for a fair war and to return to their families, and to the citizens of the US who let the Bush lies about our involvement and our casualties roll on unabated. The people we call “insurgents” in Iraq are the same we’d call “freedom fighters” in a regime we wanted to overthrow, like Grenada or Panama or Vietnam.

Anyone who still supports the war after the WMD’s revelation, anyone who says they support the troops without questioning why they’re there, or if you know anyone who supports this, I urge you to watch this video.

So many things match with Shrub. It is worth a poke around on the net to compare what you think; very enlightening. One other thing---stingy. I had to laugh when that word came up with the tsunami relief even though NO countries' names were used.

Another thing on one of the papers, from this book--'When I was Six' really about a six year old, but emotionally the same. "It is hard for me to understand what is yours and mine, so therefore, 'I steal'.

thugs don't apologize or backpeddle for shit. What is he expecting to gain by "being more diplomatic"? And from WHO? this is obviously a bad impression of remorse.

169. Maybe he had a visit over the holiday with one of them psychobabble Docs
And is the reason he couldn't get his ass out to make a speech about the tsunami victims until four days had passed...

Nah, he's just manipulating the masses.

173. Here's whatcha do, W...
"I remember when I talked about Osama bin Laden, I said we're going to get him dead or alive. I guess it's not the most diplomatic of language," Bush said.
<snip>

Stand on a soap box, in front of the parents of the kids you have killed. Repeat the above statement 1400 times after arming the crowd with ripe projectiles ( tomatoes, eggs, cow flop, etc.)

176. read: I'm sorry I exposed my ignorance, but not for being ignorant
He's not apologizing for the arrogant hubris but for the tactical blunder that it was. He should have kept it in the locker room.

Subject: Welcome Back

Howdy, partner, it's your old friend George W. here in Washington , D.C.

I thought I would write with the hope of learning you are being treated well in your undisclosed location. I see you have a new haircut and are getting a bit grayer; so am I.

Sorry about the Uday and Qusay misunderstanding. Like they said in The Godfather (which I know is your favorite movie), "it's business, not personal." I hope both your sons made it to paradise and found their 72 virgins. As a devoted father, you have to be happy about that! Perhaps they’ll find multiple wives and settle down in paradise, and "I hope their first child is a masculine child."

It was a good year for me. You'll be quite proud to hear that I managed to steal another election! My brother, Jeb, came through once again in Florida , and Diebold rigged the Ohio vote count.

Kerry would have driven you crazy with his flip-flopping, and his wife is a "major league" pain in the butt - "big time".

Can you imagine dealing with Kerry? "Saddam, you were with us before you were against us.” And his wife might just tell you to go "shove it".

You're lucky you didn't have to deal with all this election nonsense when you were in power in Iraq. Your treachery and deception were pure, and you didn't have that idiot Michael Moore chasing you around, getting these morons all riled up and making a fortune doing it. You would have thrown the dope into Abu Ghraib. Hmm, now there's a thought…

Pretty cool, though, what we did at Abu Ghraib, huh? I bet you're disappointed your sons missed the fun with the red panties, whips, chains, dog leashes and hoods. That Lyndie England is one mean chick; bet she'd have made a perfect mate for your son, Uday, but I doubt she was a virgin. Oh, well, c'est la guerre.

(very reluctant snip)
