KABUL (AFP) - Suspected Taliban have threatened to cut off the nose and ears of men who shave their beards or anyone caught listening to music in a district of southeast Afghanistan (news - web sites).

I just saw a report Sunday afternoon about all the freedom the Afghan women have. They're going to school, using computers, walking the streets in broad daylight, and living almost like human beings again! Those nasty old Taliban guys are gone forever, I tell you!

Sadly, President Stupidhead, of the notoriously short attention span, will almost certainly fail to follow through in Afghanistan, thousands more lives will be lost, and the U.S. will abandon the field to the Taliban sooner rather than later. If Lil George looks like he's going to take a dive in November 2004, he'll pull the troops out beginning in October 2004 or later, so that his Democratic successor will inherit an incredible mess that the Repukes will blame that successor for, despite the facts and the timelines.

If Lil George wins in November 2004, he'll start pulling the troops out right after his second inaugural, and insist that the media keep a lid on their reporting, which they will be only too happy to do. Either way, Afghanistan, don't get too enamored of your new freedoms. They're only there at the sufferance of a corrupt regime in the United States that doesn't really care if you're free or not.
