Bush uses new nickname for senator
http://edition.cnn.com/2005/ALLPOLITICS/01/14/senator.name.ap/

Sen. Ben Nelson finally has succeeded in getting President Bush to stop calling him by the nickname "Nellie." ...

The president likes to give people nicknames. He has called Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia, "Pootie-Poot," while aide Karen Hughes gets "High Prophet."

But Bush heeded Nelson's request to scrap his moniker, and at the recent White House Christmas party, the president referred to Nelson as "Benny."

"The president had a twinkle in his eye when he called me that," Nelson said. "He knew what he had done. I said, 'Thank you, Mr. President."'

Actually, Seabiscuit's right on target. bush*s nicknames are ingenious, they're way too obvious. With that in mind bush* WOULD refer to Jesus Christ as "Jay-Cee".

15. It wouldn't even be weird, necessarily...
...for adults. Coming from the most powerful person alive, though, whom you must still call "sir," it's pretty obviously an aggressive act. I'm reminded of creation myths in which the first man gives names to all the animals, over whom he is presumed to have some sort of dominion.

I guess it beats spraying them to mark his territory, though.

I don't think "sir" is good enough, it must be "Mr. President". I don't remember exactly when it was, but I believe he admonished a reporter for this during a news conference.
Egotistical a-hole.

27. Common bully tactic
Don't call people by their names, that implies respect, make up a name for them. That gives you power over them, and belittles them. Notice all the names are belittling or sarcastic? Benny, Pootie-Poot, High Prophet, Nellie...

More proof that Bush is a piece of crap. What a disgusting, filthy person.

46. Fits the profile, doesn't it?
I believe it was Woodward, who, when not extolling and drooling over Bush, observed that the belittling name calling goes a long way back. And there is the history of the fraternity violence, too...

As you say, this is the toolbox of the bully. I suspect that in his heart of hearts, what most upset Bush about Saddam was that the Iraqi leader had got away with more malevolence; he was a more successful form of what Bush knows himself to be.

to call ANYONE by a name that is not theirs! So can we please stand up and demand that Republicans say "the Democratic Party" instead of the vile 'Democrat Party?"

They even have the temerity to use this on the House floor. Not to mention on nearly every cable show on the planet.

I say it's time we called them on it and demand that they cease and desist!

52. This gets ever weirder. If Americans don't have the guts anymore to
tell that asshole they want to be called by their real name that's one thing. But that... that... The president of the USA calls the president of another nation "Pootie-Poot"???! It's just unbelievable... but believe me: This not only sheds a bad light on Bush. Bush is - whether we like it or not - your representative.

It is not clever - to say the least - to personally antagonize the heads of state of other nations.
