Frank McKenna, who takes the ultra-political ambassador post on March 1, also played down his personal links to Washington's elite, relationships with former U.S. presidents that have drawn some controversy.

Some critics have questioned his appointment as ambassador, alleging a conflict of interest because he sits on the international advisory board of Carlyle Group, a huge private equity firm based in Washington with close ties to the Bush family.

The sooner MPs can grill McKenna, the better, given all his political connections, said NDP foreign affairs critic Alexa McDonough.

"The issue is not that Mr. McKenna has close ties to Mr. Martin, but rather that he has close ties to a powerful investment firm with extremely close ties to the Bush family,'' she said.

the 2 bit prick, doing it friday and denying parliament chance to vet mckenna on his neocon ties...martin kissing bushco ass....jeez...frank mkenna, whose only cure for regional economic problems was call centres! big ones with thousands of min. wage earners selling stuff by phone....he's a carlyle groupie. ie one of them

6. What a Mean Story...

Only last night...CBC's political round table which included TorStar/Bissonette, Canada.com/Gunthar! and Allan Greg...gave McKenna three thumbs up and couldn't find a thing wrong with the appointment...only doubleplusgood for Canadians.

Hell Canada's Most Respectable Anchor...Pete 'Slaphead' Mansbridge (I miss Frank Magazine) couldn't even come up with a real question...

It was good to see Canada back in the 70s...

Now on to Sgro...are these clowns daring us to topple the govt or what?
