White House Calls CIA Report 'Speculative'
WASHINGTON -- The White House on Friday played down a government report which said the war in Iraq is providing an important training ground and recruitment center for Islamic terrorists.

"This is a speculative report about things that could happen in the world," press secretary Scott McClellan told reporters on Air Force One as President Bush traveled to Florida for an education speech.

Bush has frequently described Iraq as the central front in the war on terror, and has said the United States wants to confront terrorists overseas rather than at home.

"The report confirms that we have the right strategy for winning the war on terrorism," McClellan said.

Asked about the finding that the war had created a breeding ground for terrorists, he said, "That's assuming that terrorists would just be sitting around and doing nothing if we weren't staying on the offensive."

1. What a dumbass...
It wouldn't be a breeding ground for terrorists if the terrorists were just sitting down and doing nothing, would it, McLellan? Unfortunately, they are using it as a training ground against us and are recruiting more than they could have imagined due to our war crimes and brutality to the civilian population.

2. Since Bush will only allow Iraq "happy news" to be reported to him
the CIA must have gotten a big tongue-lashing when they spoiled Bush's fantasyland world.

16. According to Condi, * said before 9/11 he was "tired of swatting flies."
Then he shouldn't have made so many corpses.

Although it was thoughtful of him to give the dogs of Fallujah so much to feed on. Who says he isn't compassionate??

I'd sorta wondered whatever happened to Baghdad Bob, the Iraqi Information Minister. It looks like he went over to the "Coalition" side, cleaned up a bit, got rid of his accent, and found gainful employment under an alias...

Arrrgh! The report says we're getting clobbered, in plain English, and Scotty McFuckwad still insists that no, "The report confirms that we have the right strategy for winning the war on terrorism,"!!!!

Sweet Jesus, how can these people look at themselves in a mirror?

15. And even IF they had the flight & seat numbers ahead of 911, they still
would have ignored the report & done nothing as they did!

How can ANYONE read the facts that state one thing, and then just come to the OPPOSITE conclusion?

How? How?

I just don't get it!

17. When the facts get in the way
(sung to the tune of "She'll Be Coming Round The Mountain")

When the facts get in the way you change the facts,
And when facts get in the way, give facts the ax.
When the facts get in the way,
When the facts get in the way,
When the facts get in the way you change the facts.

<snip>

When the experts say you're wrong shunt them aside.
You don't care if facts and policy collide.
When the experts say you're wrong,
When the experts say you're wrong,
When the experts say you're wrong shunt them aside.

When the facts get in the way you change the facts,
And when facts get in the way, give facts the ax.
When the facts get in the way,
When the facts get in the way,
When the facts get in the way you change the facts.

18. Isn't it bizarre how the most powerful can take "powerlessness",..
,...and USE IT TO THEIR ADVANTAGE?

"That's assuming that terrorists would just be sitting around and doing nothing if we weren't staying on the offensive."

That is the craziest, most complex delusional explanation of inciting basic human survival,...I have ever heard in such PRETTY terms.

Anyone who is paying attention KNOWS what these people live for themselves,...and the MONEY AND POWER that serves their SELF-IMPORTANCE,...an ENEMY of life and spirit while they INVEST in their own worth,...above both humanity and GOD.

Anyone OF FAITH would condemn these profiteers.

Those of NO FAITH support these bullshitters.

24. Wasn't there an earlier report (not PDB) that was "speculative"?
Perhaps regarding the potential for civil war in Iraq? Or an earlier assessment of the Iraq insurgency? I don't remember exactly which... I vaguely recall it being deemed a "matter of opinion, not fact" by the bunch of loonies in the administration.

These folks are nuthatches... and the sheeple who believe everything they say... well...

Edited on Sun Jan-16-05 11:08 AM by kypper
So the FBI and CIA reports are legitimate beyond a shadow of a doubt if their evidence provides the pretext to war, but 'speculative' if their report criticises the administration. This is too funny.

28. This is like living in a alternate universe
They believe the reports that are lies and disavow reports that are obviously correct.

Anyone with half a brain who pays attention to Iraq can see that the report from the CIA is correct. I've heard this on the cable news programs and virtually every analyst they had said yes, this is what is happening. But the WH wants us to believe it's mere speculation.

Up is down and black is white.

to come out of these assholes' pieholes. Of course all things that come out of their pieholes is stupid, but these two stand out in this lame story.

-- "That's assuming that terrorists would just be sitting around and doing nothing if we weren't staying on the offensive."--

This one takes the cake.

--Bush has frequently described Iraq as the central front in the war on terror, and has said the United States wants to confront terrorists overseas rather than at home.--

35. There ARE NO TERRORISTS IN IRAQ. Not Iraqi or ANY OTHER nationality...
there are NO TERRORISTS storming the borders of the USA.

Terrorists did not hit the USA on 911. Those were thugs hired by the PNAC and the bush regime.

That was a staged event.

Bush's war on terror hasn't caught ONE SINGLE TERRORIST.

The 'terrorists' are the new boogie man, along with the muslims. Problem is, the muslims exist; the terrorists really don't.
