Avalanche hits US ski resort (Park City, Utah)
A massive avalanche struck a ski area near the ritzy US resort of Park City today, burying several people under a mountain of snow.

Some media reports said up to 15 people could be trapped in the avalanche in the state of Utah, where the Sundance Film Festival is due to begin next week, but officials said that estimate was high.

"We don't have definitive information at this point, but we know that multiple people are trapped," Summit County Sheriff Dave Edmunds said, adding the avalanche was a large one.

1. Anybody skiing on most of these mountains right now is a fool.
There's snow enough for good skiing conditions and then there's THIS mess. How many feet have fallen in some places already? 25 or 30?

3. huh?
I'm not sure what you mean.

This particular slide took place outside any ski resort, in federal forest land. Anyone skiing/boarding there hiked in.

it means they weren't the outdoorsmen they thought they were.
I remember going caving and there was bad weather, some wanted to stay and cave because we all only had a few days vacation. I was right, the caves were flooded. Luckyly I had convinced all that there were interesting things to do on the surface.
Always Always pay attention to the weather and your sniffer! Many private pilots do themselves in because no meterology courses are required now-a-days.
