Kerry Communications Director Resigns |
|
Posted on Mon, Sep. 15, 2003 Kerry Communications Director Resigns RON FOURNIER Associated Press
WASHINGTON - John Kerry's communications director has resigned over differences in the direction of the Democrat's presidential campaign.
Chris Lehane's departure comes amid speculation of a wider shake-up in the Kerry campaign, which has been torn by internal fights and a lack of public support from the candidate.
Kerry, a Massachusetts senator once considered the leading contender in a nine-person field, has seen his campaign eclipsed by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean.
"John Kerry is a great American," Lehane said in a statement confirming his resignation. "He has assembled a great team to take on George W. Bush and I wish him the best of luck as the campaign goes forward."More: http://www.bayarea.com/mld/mercurynews/news/politics/6778015.htm

1. I hate to see stuff like this, |
|
I am not a supporter or defender of any of the candidates yet... just want to beat Bush, so am saddened that any of the campaigns are having troubles.

3. did this guy work on the Gore campaign? |
|
Because that might explain why the media isn't exactly cozying up to Kerry.

Early this month, as he formally began his campaign, Kerry told reporters he "reserved the right" to make changes and gave a mixed assessment of his staff's performance. Trying to quell talk of a staff purge, he issued a statement saying there would be "no changes."
The statement, drafted with Lehane's assistance, was meant to be the last word, but Kerry has backpedaled from it. "Those weren't precisely my words. They were the words of a press release sent out," Kerry told The Boston Globe in a story published Sunday.
There are no words to describe this. I have tried, but nothing I can say points out the absudity of this any better than Kerry's own words:
"Those weren't precisely my words. They were the words of a press release sent out"!
It seems Kerry Press Releases are sentient and wish to share their opinions! :-) Ha ha!
Either that, or Kerry is saying Kerry misquoted Kerry.

7. The press release will be holding a press conference |
|
in order to explain the apparent discrepancy. (Caught that, too, DANZ.)

12. It isn't puzzling to me. |

Lahane sent out a press release that was not true. Kerry said the words were not his. Bye Bye Lahane.

6. Wonder if he'll work for Clark? |
|
Kinda smarmy to go to another candidate's headquarters at this time, but can't imagine he'll sit this one out.

13. would not be shocking |
|
after all, it was reported that Mark Fabiani was (allegedly) going to be part of Team Clark, and they were the so-called "Master's of Disaster" back in the day, so it could happen.
He may also go out to California and help Davis out again now that the recall has been delayed.

Lehane was the man behind Gore's attacks on Bradley. Nice to see him go ;-)

Lehane was a liability to Gore and when he went to work for Kerry I was quite dismayed. Kerry needs someone fresh and not afraid to take risks.
This is good news, gang.
