Large Demonstration in Baghdad against Iraqi Government (Cuban Press)

Baghdad, Jan 16 (Prensa Latina) Hundreds of Baghdad's inhabitants voiced their growing dissatisfaction with the inefficient interim administration supervised by the US on Sunday as they marched on this city's streets.

The participants in the march, followers of Shiite cleric Moqtada Al Sadr, were protesting shortage of gasoline and the frequent power cuts they are suffering.

Carrying banners and flags they chanted slogans in front of Iraq's Ministry of Petroleum building.

The Sadr office director in the neighborhood of Karj, Sheikh Malek al Kinani accused local politicians of only caring about the elections of January 30, while neglecting the people’s necessities.

Located in the Persian Gulf, Iraq has the second largest petroleum reserve of the world, but is ironically being hit shortage of gasoline.
