High court justices take oath of office (AL- Moore/Clarence Thomas quotes)
There were two stars of the show Friday during a swearing-in ceremony for incoming state Supreme Court justices -- and neither of them was one of the new judges.
Former Chief Justice Roy Moore and the Bible took center stage as the judges took the oath of office.

Three associate justices, Tom Parker, Michael Bolin and Patricia M. Smith, as well as Alabama Court of Civil Appeals Judge Tommy Elias Bryan, all Republicans, took the oath.

Moore, who issued the oath, received a standing ovation from about a third of the packed audience in the 1,200-seat Troy State University Davis Theatre for the Performing Arts.

After Friday's ceremony, Moore said he still is noncommittal about a reported run for governor in 2006. "I've been asked to run," he said. "I'm praying about it. We'll see what prayer brings."
...
"By what standards should we govern ourselves?" Parker asked. "Truly the source of authority is the higher authority. We are endowed by our Creator. No judge can ban from the courtroom the very source of law that our Creator gives."

The formal oaths were administered earlier by Thomas, who reportedly made an interesting remark...

Many stood and applauded former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore as he walked to the stage to administer the oath to Parker. Moore's action was ceremonial, since Parker took his formal oath of office Thursday before U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas in Washington. Parker said Thomas told him a judge should be evaluated by whether he faithfully upholds his oath to God, not to the people, to the state or to the Constitution.

2. One wonders whether he also prayed for an Order for Contempt of Court
Public Service - just a matter of faith in a higher 'justice' I suppose.
