Bomb inflicts U.S. casualties in Iraq's Ramadi (US won't say how many)
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/GEO745161.htm

BAGHDAD, Jan 17 (Reuters) - A car bomb inflicted U.S. casualties in the western Iraqi town of Ramadi on Monday, the U.S. military said.

The military said the bomb exploded after Marines showed up to investigate the device. The military did not elaborate on the number of casualties and said they could not confirm reports that the blast was caused by a suicide bomber.

Hospital officials said earlier that three Iraqi civilians were killed after a suicide bomber attacked a U.S. patrol and American troops opened fire in Ramadi.

13. Not a 100 per day. It's two one day, three another day.
However, a lot more get wounded. The U.S. is gonna run out of soldiers at this rate. Recruiting is in the toilet so it's only a matter of time.

A US spokesman said Marines suffered an undisclosed number of casualties in a suicide car bombing in Ramadi, 70 miles west of Baghdad.
The Marines were sent to check a suspicious vehicle and when they arrived, they came under small arms and rocket-propelled grenade fire and the vehicle exploded.

“There were US casualties,” 1st Lt. Lyle Gilbert said. He declined to give further details, citing security.

RAMADI, Iraq, Jan 17 (AFP) - A suicide bomber blew up a car packed with explosives in the insurgent stronghold of Ramadi, west of Baghdad, Monday causing US casualties, the US military and witnesses said.

"A vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated in the vicinity of Ramadi earlier today, as elements of the First Marine Expeditionary Force were operating nearby," said Lieutenant Lyle Gilbert.

"The troops were then engaged by anti-Iraqi insurgents with small arms fire and rocket-propelled grenades. There were US casualties," he added without elaborating.

Witnesses said the car sped alongside a convoy in the city centre and blew up at 3:30 pm (1230 GMT), burning two Humvee all-terrain vehicles.

A second bomb also detonated in the city, damaging other US military vehicles, the witnesses added. But the US military had no immediate word on a second attack.
