Saudi Arabia: US national 'tortured' by FBI and threatened with Guantánamo
Saudi Arabia: US national 'tortured' by FBI and threatened with Guantánamo Bay

This is an Amnesty International news release published on 18th January 2005

Amnesty International is calling on US and Saudi Arabian authorities to ensure the safety of a US national held in Saudi Arabia who has allegedly been tortured by US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agents.

The man, Ahmed Abu 'Ali, aged 23, a US national, is believed to be held in secret detention at al-Ha’ir prison in the Saudi Arabian capital, Riyadh. He has had no access to lawyers and his telephone calls to relatives in the USA ended abruptly in November.

Amnesty International UK Director Kate Allen said:

"Reports that FBI officials tortured Ahmed Abu 'Ali are extremely alarming and we are calling on the US and Saudi authorities to act quickly to now guarantee his safety.
(snip)

"What is all the more alarming about this case is the fact that it comes after reports of detainees under American control being sent to countries in the Middle East for interrogation and torture.

6. Add this to the things the Bushies will be doing these next 4 years
Let's see if we can count them all:

1) Indefinite detention of US Citizens in foreign prisons;
2) Torture of US Citizens;
3) Death squad murders of US Citizens;
4) Secret wars against US Citizens;
5) Provocation and material assistance to terrorist attacks against US Citizens;
6) Obstruction of justice, perjury, and cover-up of (1-5), above.

Correction, those are the things they've already done.

What more can they do? How about a nuclear war? To quote the ad for Outback Steakhouse (a big 100% repug campaign contributor): "No Rules, Just Fun."

8. Some citizens are more equal than others. If they have funny sounding
names, eat strange foods, and pray to strange Gods - torture is ok.
