Schroeder rules out troops in Iraq before Bush visit
BERLIN - German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is sticking to his "no" on sending troops to Iraq ahead of his meeting with US President George W. Bush next month.

"We will not send troops to Iraq," said Schroeder at a news conference. Germany and France led European opposition to the Iraq war.

But Schroeder insisted differences over Iraq with the US now had to be seen as "history" and he held out the possibility that Berlin would boost its police training programme for Iraqis being run in the United Arab Emirates or its Iraqi officer training programme in Germany.

"I am really looking to meeting President Bush," Schroeder said, adding that "there are no real complications in bilateral ties."

1. Yeah, they'll be meeting in Mainz. Hell I hate this guy. What would the
Americans answer if a visiting head of state said "Hell no, I won't go to Washington, meet me in Los Angeles or New Orleans if you wanna see me."

Actually for me Mainz is very good though *g* Much shorter and cheaper than Berlin!

I shudder to think what's going to happen if the CDU wins the next elections. All Merkel wants to do is sit on Bush's lap.

Bush to The Hague!

2. Nobody is going to send troops to die for the Bush gang.
The ones that have are already pulling out or are pulling out after the election. The French and Germans wouldn't send any before and they aren't going to send any now as the whole thing is blowing up in the neo-con's faces.
