Rice Refuses to Give Iraq Timetable
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=1&u=/ap/20050118/ap_on_go_ca_st_pe/senate_rice_13

WASHINGTON - Secretary of State nominee Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) told senators on Tuesday that a U.S. exit strategy from Iraq (news - web sites) is "directly proportional" to Iraq's ability to defend itself against terrorists after this month's elections.

Stepping out from her largely behind-the-scenes role as President Bush (news - web sites)'s national security adviser, Rice said she could not give Congress a timetable for American disengagement.

"The goal is to get the mission accomplished," she said. "We're right now focused on security for the (Jan. 30) election."

Rice told her Senate Foreign Relations Committee confirmation hearing that spreading democracy through the Middle East remains a top administration foreign-policy objective.

6. what a dink Biden is
Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

.. (from link) However, Biden also had blunt advice for European critics: "I have one simple message: Get over it. Get over it. President Bush is our president for the next four years. So get over it and start to act in your interest, Europe."

9. re Biden
The quote is in the article.
Biden fails to realize that there is nothing for Europe to "get over".
Europe was acting in it's own interest when they said no to joining in the attack on Iraq.

16. OK, it's at the bottom of the piece
I agree w/you. Biden doesn't make any sense in his comments. He sure isn't helping to build bridges across the pond. But this comment from Condi inre: getting out of Iraq:

"We did meet with some unforeseen circumstances," Rice acknowledged.

Shinseki didn't think the "circumstances" were "unforeseen." Neither did Schwartzkopf nor any number of generals who told Bush before "shock and awe" that his plan was shit out of luck from the git go.

14. The Boxer Rebellion, continued
Barbara Boxer gave Condi HELL! She accused the administration of attempting to drum up support for the and quoted Condi's many statements of what the Iraqui threat might be...oh, and how terribly wrong it was to send people away to die. Condi tried to "clarify" (obfuscate), and Boxer began to answer her, but then they broke for lunch. They'll be back at it at 2:30. Woo-hoo!

http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=421705&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312

Now if she could just link it to OUR security! If the DEMS could just have linked a No Invasion postition to OUR security in the FIRST place!
