Iraqi war outlook called grim
http://www.contracostatimes.com/mld/cctimes/news/10670453.htm

WASHINGTON - A series of new U.S. intelligence assessments on Iraq paints a grim picture of the road ahead and concludes that there is little likelihood that President Bush's goals can be attained in the near future.

Instead of stabilizing the country, national elections Jan. 30 are likely to be followed by more violence and could provoke a civil war between majority Shiite Muslims and minority Sunni Muslims, the CIA and other intelligence agencies predict, according to senior officials who have seen the classified reports.

A CIA spokesman, Tom Crispell, said he was unable to comment. A White House spokeswoman had no immediate comment. The federal government was closed Monday for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

A new public report by the National Intelligence Council concludes that instead of diminishing terrorism, U.S.-occupied Iraq has replaced prewar Afghanistan as a breeding and training ground for terrorists who may disperse to conduct attacks elsewhere.

1. How many people will die because of Bush and this war? Where will it end?
Could Bush go down as some kind of Hitler? Will all Americans get blamed for relecting Bush?

This may go down in the history books as the downfall of the great superpower. Bush has destroyed everything he ever touched...and people are too dumb to see it. Makes me mad!!

4. But - how could this be? Fox News says - - - - >
all is well in Iraq. They constantly crow about our success there and "all the happy Iraqis!" Saint George is to be canonized in Baghdad soon. The troops love it there and 100% of them want to be deployed (except for those "nut-cases" O'Lielly mentions).
So where do you get these rediculous negative reports?

5. Look for Bush to declare victory and get out ASAP after the "elections"
They never had a long-range plan from the outset, they've been unable to develop one on the fly. They want out, and I think they'll be perfectly happy with even the thinnest of illusions that Iraq is a democracy and on it's way to stability blah blah blah.

Look for them to cut and run. Look for the media to join them in trumpeting, "See? The mission really IS accomplished!"

Gag. :(

10. They aren't going anywhere. Billions have been invested in
airbases to replace the one we were forced to abandon in Saudi Arabia.

There is too much at stake to cut and run, it isn't even being considered.
