Laura Bush to Skip Tea Time With Moore
WASHINGTON - It might have seemed a way to thaw a sometimes chilly relationship between the Bush administration and former Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore. The ousted judge would sit down with the first lady for a spot of tea.

But Laura Bush's spokesman says she isn't attending Saturday's First Ladies Inaugural Tea, featuring Moore as the speaker, and wasn't even invited. The event's organizer insists she was invited and that the White House had told her Mrs. Bush would stop by.

"We're praying she'll be with us," said Merrie Turner of Fairfax, Va., who is footing the bill for the event at a Washington hotel honoring congressional wives in addition to Mrs. Bush.

Although President Bush (news - web sites) and Moore are both conservative Republicans, their somewhat cool relationship stems from Moore's refusal to follow a court order requiring him to remove a Ten Commandments monument from the Alabama judicial building. The standoff cost Moore his job.

2. They are both waiting for JayZeus to make an appearance at the Coronation.
See how pious and faithful they are in their religious beliefs. The same beliefs that tie them together hand and glove.

3. LOL!
At first I thought Michael Moore! I can't image him being a tea type though.

What is she saying, she wasn't invited to a First Ladies Inauguaral Tea? I don't think she can get away with that.

9. Grace Slick Was Invited to Have Tea With Tricia Nixon in 1969 - Hoped
that the President would stop by so she could spike his cup with LSD. She thought a turned-on Dick Nixon would be a groovy guy who would promote world peace. I don't think it ever came to pass. But, who knows? Kissinger and Gen. Haig did order that the briefcase containing the nuclear launch codes be kept away from Dick after he started talking to the portraits of the presidents in the West Wing.

I'm not sure even Michael Moore would be capable of a prank of similarly enormous proportions. The thought of MM in the same room with W is intriguing.

21. Also, at some point in the Nixon years, Abbie Hoffman was invited
to a class reunion(I think it was Julie's)being held at the White House.
And I think he actually showed up.

4. If its called the 'First Ladies' Inaugural Tea', it seems highly
unlikely that she wouldn't be invited. Also, since the title is pluralized, are other first ladies going to be there?

7. I was wondering the same thing - 1st Ladies Tea and Not Invited
Then it's not a 1st Ladie's Tea if the 1st Lady (term used loosely here) isn't invited.

Maybe I'll have a super bowl party in two weeks and not show the super bowl - makes sense huh?

14. CRUMPET=fancy name for an ENGLISH MUFFIN
People are so disappointed when they learn this....some folks have this idea that they are some sort of fancy pastry....it's a goddamn ENGLISH MUFFIN, and more like a knock-off, lousy, supermarket brand ENGLISH MUFFIN...lacks that Thomas's crunchy goodness!!!!

19. No, I don't think an english muffin is the same as a crumpet
Crumpets have large holes in their upper side, which go all the way down until you reach the flat base (in which the holes are extremely small). A crumpet is quite rubbery before toasting. An english muffin, from what I remember (since they aren't called that in England) is much closer to bread.

27. Thomas's English Muffins are FAMOUS for their nooks/crannies
...and they are rubbery before toasting, but they toast up nice and crisp. The supermarket versions are also rubbery, the holes are usually not as big as Thomas's (which are HUGE), but they have the consistency and identical appearance of a crumpet. My Scottish pal calls them crumpets, in fact.

I lived in UK for many years, and had many a crumpet... with devon creme, with strawberries, with jam....crumpet, crumpet, crumpet!!! I really thought, before I got there, that they were something fancy...I was quite disappointed that it was nothing more than a supermarket brand English Muffin!!!!

You're OK in the heat of an election, when your all-'Murcan gay-hatin' church-goin' "freedom"-defendin', Precious-Moments-attendin' dumb asses are needed at the polls. But after that, don't call the Bushes, they'll call you.

You did hear that His Chimperial Highness said this week that he's not going to push the gay marriage amendment, didn't you? He's just saving it up for 2006 so he can get your collective dumb ass out to the polls ONE MORE TIME - and the day after that he won't even know your name.

Dumbasses!
