US official confirms Allawi shot six dead
http://fairuse.1accesshost.com/news2/smh41.html

snip - Writing about his research in Jordan in December, Anderson says: "A well-known former government minister told me that an American official had confirmed that the killings took place, saying to him, 'What a mess we're in - we got rid of one son of a bitch only to get another one'."

The New Yorker also revealed that Anderson was present during an interview conducted by the Herald's chief correspondent, Paul McGeough, in late June, with a man who said he witnessed the executions by Dr Allawi.

Dr Allawi denied the allegations when they were published in the Herald last July.

And THIS is the guy Bush is backing.....appears to be a Saddam wannabee to me......lord it just goes from bad to worse.....I was wondering when we would finally get to the bottom of this allegation.

1. It was the US that put Saddam in power.
There's no reason to suspect the next guy the US put in power would be any better.

5. Don't act surprised. These are "I told you so" moments, and there will be
many many more. It's important NOT to act surprised when everything falls apart. Otherwise, we'll get the "noone could have possibly anticipated that" comments.

We did nothing to help Iraq, and now it looks like we will abandon them under a new dictator that we appoint (though we'll be able to blame it on THEM through this pseudo election).

35. Six Gun and Two Bigs Bombs
When Allawi and his Iraqi National Accord were being financed by the CIA in the 1990s, the INA bombed a crowded movie theater and a school bus filled with children.
When asked why the INA would slaughter a bus full of children, they said it was done to "demonstrate our capability".

17. Allawi is an Iraqi-puppet version of Brig. Gen. Loan of S. Vietnam
Text story about Allawi's extra-judicial punishment for the Iraqi POWs (they were POWs, no matter what Bush and Co. might want everyone else to believe). Coincidentally now we're almost on the anniversary of that infamous incident in Vietname, with the photo shot by Eddie Adams in Vietnam back in '68, of a Viet Cong POW being blasted in head by a Viet puppet general of the US occupational army. Read the old article below.

We don't know the names of these executed Iraqi prisoners, perhaps the resistance knows, they likely had family, too. But in the long run, it won't make Allawi any more respectable.
-----------------------------------------------------------
February 1 1968
During police actions following the first day of the Tet offensive Brigadier General Nguyen Ngoc Loan, a south Vietnamese security official who at the time was head of South Vietnam's national police, is captured on film shooting point-blank in the head with a snubnose .38 pistol a Viet Cong prisoner by American photographer Eddie Adams.

The victim’s name was Nguyen Van Lem (Bay Lop) who was 36 at the time of his death. Nguyen Van Lem was born in 1933, he fought the French with Ho Chi Minh as a teen-ager. When captured in Saigon during the Tet Offensive, he was a Viet Cong captain with a nomde guerre.

He was married to Nguyen Thi Lop.

"That photograph did much to turn Americans against the war", Ms. Thi Lop said in an interview on May 1, 2000. "He would have been happy to see his goal achieved, a socialist state free of foreign occupation."

A story in Time Magazine in 1993 (Time Magazine, February 15 1993, p.42) recalls the incident: "A quarter-century later, the victim’s widow, Nguyen Than Lop, 60, lives in a decrepit house on the outskirts of what is now called Ho Chi Minh City. For a decade after the war, she and her three children were homeless. The Vietnamese provided shelter only after a Japanese TV crew found her living in a field."

Loan died 7-14-1998 in Burke, Virginia at age 67. He lost a leg during the Tet offensive.
---------------------------------------------------------
Makes me wonder, maybe Mr. Allawi will soon lose a head...

32. Horrific but
wasn't that general's family butchered by the Viet Cong immediately prior to that photo?

wasn't the guy executed/mudered part of such operations?

Not excusing anything, just truly desirous of an accurate perspective.

We have done it for decades, and there's no stopping anytime soon.

The problem with "rent-a-thugs"...they always turn on their masters once they get their own powerbase in order.

Every continent (except for Australia & Antarctica) have been "graced" by our thugs at one time or another..

27. Remember IRAN??? Exact same thing...
...when Mossadeq got the 'treatment,' and the Shah was installed by "popular acclaim?" The people at those rally-riots were ferried to them in orange cabs paid for by a three letter agency, and waved their dollar bills (they didn't even bother to use rials) in enthusiastic support of the 'popular' fearless leader.

That one worked out well, for awhile. Of course, when it went all wobbly, it went TOTALLY wobbly. So much for the Three Pillars theory!

26. bush may back him, but bush cannot be held accountable for the aftermath
Remember, it's after the election, and all the sewage is oozing out from the bursting seams of the bush fabrication for war.

Even The Economist noted months ago that Allawi was a CIA operative, for crying out loud. When will the bushies wake the f*ck up and realize how stupid this administration is? I mean stupid, stupid, stupid, et cetera, et cetera, ad nauseam. Gawd, it makes you want to jump off a cliff or something, bang your head against the wall, having to deal with a nation of purposefully ignorant, smug, self-satisfied bush supporters as they tie themselves to our ankles and wade off into the deep waters.

39. How will the MSM account for black-balling this story? Bets....
They will play-up the "unverifiable" nature of the original reports (ignoring that it was independently corroborated by two sources, published by a reputable reporter in a reputable newspaper).

-OR-

Will they just continue to ignore it? Probably easier, or in the parlance of our times, more cost-effective.

41. If he is ruthless enought to kill,
with his own pistol, he will also be ruthless enough to try to avenge the bombing and sanctions of his country. He may try to get us into a war with their neighbors which will benefit Iraq financially and leave the US and their neighbors weakened. I've always felt a little uneasy about him.
