Shelters Prepared In Case Of Inaugural Emergency
Shelters Prepared In Case Of Inaugural Emergency
Emergency Shelters Are Within 200 Miles Of Washington

POSTED: 5:27 pm EST January 18, 2005

BETHEL TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A school in Pennsylvania's Susquehanna Valley is one of a number of shelters the American Red Cross is setting up in the event of an emergency at Thursday's presidential inauguration.

It's the first time the Red Cross has taken such extensive precautions for an inauguration.

"We try to plan for any type of emergency that may occur," said Dawn Vitez, with the American Red Cross.

Tuesday was a regular school day at Northern Lebanon High School, but the building is ready to take on an important role should there be some type of disaster at Thursday's presidential inaugural.

"It would be for people who have had to leave their homes suddenly and have nowhere else to go," Vitez said.

In 1995. I was teacing at Lebanon Valley College in Annville. Damn, I can't remember the route number but the house was right at the base of the mountain that had the Appalachain Trail running along the crest. Mennonite farmers for neighbors. You're right-- that's a long way from DC.

usually precludes some type of crisis....now if only one day I could interpret these better in advance.

Nightmares involving lots of numbers usually indicate a bad one coming, whatever it may be.

It must be a girl thing...hard for me to describe in words to anyone who is not of the female gender...with female gender, you explain it with half words and nods.

On edit - MY nightmares that have numbers in them usually preclude bad things...I keep getting 1 2; 1 2 1; 1F

oh well

16. Plain Evil has been set loose
taking the risk to sound cheap; the feeling is in one way feeling like the darkness spreading out of mordor. a faint "odor" could be smelled about a decade ago then bush ** came and the stench got "visible". then 9/11 charged the air.

switching metaphors, it's feeling like the time to "gear up" soon, maybe very soon

probably sound nuts buts it's quite late here.

"the attack happened 906"

That was it I don't remember anything else and it's stayed with me since I had the dream. This has never happened to me before. I don't believe I had a dream predicting a future attack.

48. Yeah, I still remember getting ready for bed the night before 9/11...
I had this awful gut feeling something really BIG, really terrible was going to happen. But I had no idea what. The next morning, and often since...whenever 9/11 comes up, I remember that intuitive moment the night before.

Women's intuition is definitely worth listening too. Though I don't know why they'd be taking people all the way to Bethel, PA???

What I'm feeling uneasy about are those bleachers that protesters are allowed to sit on. If they're being 'allowed' to sit there by the powers-that-be, I ask 'why?'

My secondary question: Does the Democratic Congressional all sit together for this little frace of junta puppets taking oaths to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution? That Doomsday plan has me majorly creeped.

Was hoping my last march would wait until nicer weather. At my age, I might get further in spring.

35. Two possible answers:
1. My reason: The Japanese people were not allowed to look at the emperor because he was descended from God. I can't get this out of my mind. I think this is why people can't look at Bush.

2. Two different people have told me that if you don't look at him, you can't aim at him. What level of cowardice is that? Anyway, it seems the most "reasonable" excuse.

A possible third answer: It won't be Bush; it will be a look-alike.

What do you think?

Re not looking at the descendent of God, don't forget that the order went out that Bush's shoes should not touch dirt. That was when he came to NY to attend a fundraiser, then cross a brief stretch of park in Queens to meet with families of 9/11 victims.

If you have never seen that, let me know, and I will find the article for you.

Bush is too good for his shoes to touch dirt, even to meet with families of 9/11 victims, the people he exploits endlessly.

I also have a very, very strange feeling. I hadn't actually correlated it to the inauguration. My feeling started about 5 days ago. I've been having dreams that are very dark and depressing in tone & remind me of the immediate post 9/11 situation.

Maybe it is related to the fact that we are saying we may hit Iran? Or the Iraqi "elections" at the end of the month?

Who knows...

44. I didn't believe it, but here it is...
They must have the chimp's throne set up to be overlooking the route to the porta potties. So then what are they going to do, whack some little cheerleader over the head with a gun if she looks at the chimp on her way to the can? Taser some poor trombone player? Odds on naked pyramids?

<snip>
Participants have been warned that they will not be allowed to leave the tents except to go to portable toilets accompanied by a security escort.
Other instructions given performers include a warning not to look directly at Bush while passing the presidential reviewing stand, not to look to either side and not to make any sudden movements.
"They want you to just look straight ahead,"
said Danielle Adam, co-director of the Mid American Pompon All Star Team from Michigan, which also performed in the 2001 inaugural parade.
<snip>

On the lighter side, they are pissing off their base...

<snip>
The anti-abortion Christian Defense Coalition, which is also planning a demonstration, has threatened to sue the government because the Secret Service recently added crosses to its list of objects that are banned from the parade route.
"I think it's censorship no matter how you look at it," said the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the defense coalition.

49. Maybe they're planning SERIOUS "crowd control" against the protestors...
and anticipate taking the injured (or worse) FAR away, to hide the true "numbers"...the way they hide the TRUE number of dead and injured U.S. soldiers.

This doesn't sound "right" to me.

Edited on Tue Jan-18-05 08:38 PM by gorbal
...and every thing turns out okay for the most part. The last Answer protest I went to in Washington DC was pretty much incident free because they do their own security.

The last four large protests I went to in New York were pretty wild and you had to keep your head on yourself and not go wandering into any police-protestor showdowns, (unless that was what you wanted) but it is usually pretty obvious.

I guess what worries the most is that when people go on about how dangerous and scary a particular event might be it will scare people away. I think that might very well be the intention of some of those articles.

47. I hope it is all OK
I am being very selfish because I will be in MD interviewing for a job that will hopefully end my 20 month unemployment! I also fly out of DC that night to go see my folks who I haven't seen in almost 2 years because I live in Okla-HELL-ma and can't afford to fly home! I don't mind being called a crackpot, but I am not getting any "bad feelings" and I usually can sense big things that I will be around. Of course, my 'senses' could be off cuz I am worried about interviewing! The more rational side of me says..."nothing will happen because it will make the US look VERY weak! The assholes in DC cannot afford that now, even though the election is over. DC is probably one of the safest cities in the world for the next few days."

Let's hope all is well...then we will have him around for his impeachment!!!! :evilgrin:
