MINSK CRITICIZES CONDOLEEZZA RICE REMARK ON BELARUS

MINSK. Jan 18 (Interfax-West) - The Belarussian Foreign Ministry has expressed displeasure with the fact that U.S. secretary of state nominee Condoleezza Rice mentioned Belarus among the countries she labeled as "outposts of tyranny" while speaking at Senate on Tuesday.

"The mentioning of Belarus in Rice's statement shows that her vision of the situation in Belarus is unfortunately too far from reality now," spokesman for the Belarussian Foreign Ministry Andrei Savinykh told Interfax on Tuesday.

"False stereotypes and prejudices are a bad foundation for pursuing an efficient policy in the sphere of relations between countries," he said.

"Only a constructive dialog based on common sense and the existing realities will help normalize relations between our countries," Savinykh said.

13. Hey, don't insult Rancid
Rancid is one of my favorite punk rock acts! How can you sully a great band by using their name in conjunction with Condi-lies-to-ya Lice? That's just low-down mean!

Sounds like Rice hasn't cracked a book since 1988. Maybe she thinks Belarus is still part of the evil Soviet Union.

19. Since when do we hate dictators? We supported them for most of our
history. We only hate elected heads of state and dictators who do not kiss our butt.

17. this is a war waged against Russia
the only remaining strategic enemy for the overwhelming power of US.
US is messing since 90's all around Russia borders : in Central Asia, Caucasus and Eastern Europe.
When they cannot buy the leaders like they did in Ukraine or Georgia they sponsor rebellions especially in Muslim regions like Chechnya by using Saudi Wahabbi proxies (80's Afghan method).
Until now, only the "weakest" (from a Russian point of view) pawns has fallen, but we should expect to see shit hit the fan when they get
closer to Russia's heart, for instance here with the historically pro-russian Belarus.

20. Exactly
Belarus is one of only two former Soviet republics that have not yet fallen under the US sphere of influence. The other being Armenia, and the US has been quite busy there lately as well.

It really shouldn't come as a suprise to anyone that Belarus was included on the axis-of-evil 2.0 list, especially considering that the US has already tried (but failed) to create a "democratic student movement" there last year based on the Georgian and Ukrainian models.

24. Very, very, very,
little. Obviously. In bushworld, you don't have to do a good job. You merely must SAY you are doing a good job, be able to talk in circles, never directly answer a question, and kiss the butt of the fuhrer. It's hard work.
