Auditor opposes Rossi's lawsuitThe Snohomish County official joins others in opposing the demand for a revote.
By Jerry Cornfield Herald Writer
OLYMPIA - Lawyers across the state are filing a last batch of briefs today and prepping for the first face-off Thursday in Dino Rossi's lawsuit challenging the outcome of the governor's election. ... Rossi sued Jan. 7, alleging that wrongful acts plagued the election and seeking a court order for a new vote. The suit alleged that auditors counted votes of dead people and felons, tallied provisional ballots improperly and ended up with records showing more votes cast than registered voters. ... Lawyers from Snohomish, Pierce and five other counties contend that an affidavit of state Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance filed with the original suit is laced with hearsay and lacks eyewitness account of actions that would support the legal challenge. ... Rossi's lawyers offered counties a deal on Tuesday. The requests would be shortened if auditors agree not to oppose a new election and would not file any new motions.
A Pierce County lawyer called it an attempt to silence auditors. Sivley said Snohomish County would not agree.

We must unite in these trying times. Please respect that Governor Gregoire has a mandate.

with Repub friends. It's so magical. And, best of all, I get to say that this is all that I expected in 2000...just go through the whole process to the end, including legal recounts, and whoever wins wins.

yes, Faux. My only defense is that I briefly saw a flash of Rossi and stopped to hear what they were saying. Brit Hume had some guest on that was on the Rossi side.
The utter fascinating thing about the whole piece is that 1) they never referred to Gregoire as Governor Gregoire and 2) no one noted that she had taken the oath of office.
They were clearly trying to sway public opinion by denying the obvious.

6. If WA state law is like most state's laws... |

Filing a lawsuit without accompanying proof of the facts stated in the suit is a crime.
From the article:
Lawyers from Snohomish, Pierce and five other counties contend that an affidavit of state Republican Party Chairman Chris Vance filed with the original suit is laced with hearsay and lacks eyewitness account of actions that would support the legal challenge.
