Bush Touts Clean Air At Coal Plant
Bush Touts Clean Air At Coal Plant

(CBS/AP) At a massive coal-fired power plant on Lake Erie, President Bush said Monday that his air pollution policies will promote efficient energy production at a time when America faces blackouts.

"The lights went out last month — you know that," Mr. Bush said at Detroit Edison's Monroe power plant, south of Detroit in southeastern Michigan, which was darkened by the blackout. "It might have been good for candle sales, but it certainly was not good for job growth," he said. "It recognizes that we've got an issue with our electricity grid and we need to modernize it."

5. This is what happens when you are lazy and detest policy
you can't even realize when what you are saying is laughable in the context of where you are saying it. Every day he makes himself look like the big head of the "wizard" (re: empty and illusory) making more people wonder who is behind the curtain pulling the shots. Wonder how it feels to be him - as more and more people (re: voters) view him as more malevalent and ineffectual than his father, and an empty suit?

8. Policy? what's that? As DiIliulio said it's all run by the political arm
Rove.

This is W aggressive and not shying away. The unbelieveable hipocrisy of this no accident, they are changing the subject by being so forward. No one in his right mind would do this, that is what they are counting on people missing.

Oh and the fear thing "The lights went out last month----- you know that" starts with a fact and distorts the hell out of it. What was the cause of the blackout? Not enough energy or not enough transmission lines?

7. Someone explain to Bush that a retrofit of an energy plant would
employ at least a couple of thousand people for at least two or three years. Add to that the additional employment for product manufacturers, the boon to the local economy from all the extra workers there...

Of course, that would cut profits for the Corporation during the retrofit and divert that money to a bunch of blue collar and middle managers.

HOW STUPID DO THEY THINK WE ARE??????

11. Bush Touts Health Care Plan at Cemetery
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 12:24 PM by spotbird
From Fox news:

“In a surprise move today President Bush visited the Sunny Acres Cemetery and Crematory to discuss methods of reducing health care costs to Medicaid, Medicare, insurance companies and employers. The new cost reduction initiative is described as a plan to introduce “farness and balance in taking one’s turn waking into that Good Night.” Bush believes that certain cancers and chronic illnesses should be left in “God’s hands and not the medical professionals.”

“Administration officials have compiled a list of illness which are deemed too expensive for treatment and better left to Providence. The diseases are listed alphabetically and the first ailment listed is asthma. Bush commented “Do you have any idea how expensive it is to treat a severely asthmatic child. They get pneumonia, bronchitis and when they are healthy they are still sick. They need lots and lots of really expensive medicine, is that in God’s plan? We all know the answer to that question.”
