Britain rocked by pictures of apparent Iraq abuse
Updated: 2005-01-19 14:52

Britain's newspapers published pictures on Wednesday of Iraqis apparently being abused by British soldiers under "Shame" and "Shock" headlines, in echoes of the Abu Ghraib scandal as a court martial rocked the country.

Some of the front-page pictures showed naked Iraqi prisoners appearing to be forced to simulate anal and other sexual acts, while in another a soldier had his fist raised above a bound detainee who had a net over his torso.

1. PM questions
This was brought up during PM questions about noon today on CSPAN.

Blair was non-plussed. Something like "the difference between a dictatorship and a democracy is that in a democracy the charged are give a day in court".

3. yeah here's more of Blair's garbage talk
"The difference between democracy and tyranny is not that in a democracy bad things don't happen," he said. "It is that in a democracy, when they do happen, people are held to account."

So Tony, who should be held to account for this? It was bad wasn't it? Or did you like it? Are you not "in charge"? If not WHO is!?

RESIGN BLAIR RESIGN!

5. Blair is nothing but the poode
and almost everyone knows that I hope. Whether the general populace in Britain agrees is beyond me; it is said he is not very popular anymore. However, look at what happened here in the USA! Or did it actually happen? Is it even possible to be rid of Blair?

Perhaps the people don't matter in Britain either. This is doubtlessly effecting their economy not to mention those killed/maimed. Why don't the Brits talk about this? Or do they?

6. To me this means that there were meetings between the two powers
in Iraq - England and the U.S. -meetings where they agreed on these tortures. Rumsfeld is trying to wiggle out of everything with blame rituals going in all directions, all down the ranks to the very lowest. Operatives being paid by corporations have muddied the waters. With these photos and the ranks of those British soldiers, it is pretty obvious that England had their own Gonzales telling them how these people aren't human and don't be afraid of tribunals.

So what does the Queen have to say about this. Blairs' words were bizarre.
