1. Oh, what a shock.
Just like Lieberman said, we must honor our special relationship above all other considerations.

5. No one will be surprised when Sharon and/or Bush is assassinated, right?
No one will be surprised when Sharon and/or Bush is assassinated, right?

I mean, if it's fair for us to pre-emptively "take out" the leader of
another country (e.g., Iraq, although, as far as anyone knows, we've
failed in our attempt) or if it's okay for Israel to take out Arafat,
then no one will be surprised when, in reprisal, certain groups
decide that it's okay to "take out" Sharon or Bush.

(This is especially true since certain other groups already
established that it's okay to rise to power in Israel by
assassinating a leader you don't agree with.)

DISCLAIMER: This posting DOES NOT CALL FOR OR AGREE WITH the
assassination of any elected official; it merely observes what the
logical blowback is should one country start assinating political
leaders.

7. The US is Even-handed
We veto a resolution of support for Arafat, but will abstain from a vote condeming Israel's policy of killing or exiling Arafat even though we disagree with that policy.

Thats so even-handed. Why can't people see us as an honest broker?

8. The title of the article wasn't clear - the US is changing abstain = veto
The vote the US was supposed to abstain from did not take place yesterday - it is supposed to be happening today. The US (according to Negroponte) will not abstain anymore, it will veto the resolution.

The message the US is sending is therefore that it supports killing Arafat.

9. Declare Israel a Terrorist State
The United Nations General Assembly must pass resolutions declaring Israel to be in violation of the UN Charter of Member States and suspend Israel from the United Nations effective immediately. Further, both the General Assembly and the Security Council must pass resolutions imposing the harshest yet sanctions and complete international isolation against Israel for continued reckless and wanton violations of numerous resolutions concerning the criminal treatment of the Palestinian people and mandates on Palestine.
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article4721.htm

IF they do...then the US
The entirety of the House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate and the Executive Branch, including President Bush, are guilty of aiding and abetting Israel in its flagrant, intentional and willful commitment of crimes against the Palestinian people. Including but not limited to violations of the Leahy Amendment and the Arms Control Export Act.

The U.S. government has also violated numerous laws in regards to certain forms of military and financial aid provided to Israel in contravention to money laundering laws and laws regarding the structuring of all aid and the repayment/obligations of the recipient country concerning how the aid is used and the reporting requirements/accountability of all aid -- military, or otherwise.

If something like Likud is labelled a 'terrorist' group, then we can give them money anymore!!!

Certainly advocating political assassination is a terrorist act

10. if it will chill out those paranoid idiots..
I'd say Arafat should take one for his people just to allow them to really believe a seventy-four year old man was behind all their problems and with his death they can start treating Palestinians like human beings.

Sad to have to deal with a bunch of idiots but I'll be so happy to see him go so I don't have to listen to anymore idiocy about him.
