Sole Omagh Bombing Conviction Overturned
"The only person jailed for involvement in Northern Ireland's bloodiest single attack, the 1998 Omagh bombing, has won an appeal against his conviction.

Murphy was serving a 14-year sentence for supplying two mobile phones used in the attack, in which 29 people were killed and more than 200 injured.

Two detectives were charged this month with perjury relating to evidence they gave during Murphy's trial"

1. The true story
of Omagh will never come out. Given that both Provo and Brit intel knew about it and were trying to play it to their respective advantage, I doubt anybody really knows what actually happened.

Murphy: the trial judges had erred in the approach they took
The appeal court found that Mr Colm Murphy's conviction on a charge of conspiracy to cause an explosion was "unsafe".
...

The Court granted Mr Murphy bail on condition he provide two sureties of €25,000 each, surrender his passport, report to Dundalk Garda Station every day and establish a permanent address.

Counsel for Mr Murphy, Mr Michael O'Higgins SC, asked the court to note that his client's business had been destroyed by his conviction and that he may seek a smaller figure as bail.
