DFW radio station features bin Laden in billboards

A North Texas radio station is using Osama bin Laden as a marketing tool. Talk radio station KLIF-AM has sparked some controversy by erecting about 20 billboards around the Dallas-Fort Worth area that feature bin Laden.

Featured with him in some of the signs are jailed former Iraqi strongman Saddam Hussein and the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat. Those say "Two down, one to go." The signs with bin Laden alone say "Some people want you dead."

On that score, he's apparently succeeded. The station has received hundreds of e-mails and phone calls commenting on the signs. Bason says the comments are split between positive and negative.

One of the billboards was erected above the Texas Hereford Association's building. Association manager Jack Chastain was not amused. "I'm a strong Republican and a strong Bush supporter," he said. "But I'd like to believe we're above that. I'd like to think we have more class. That looks to me like it's low-class." Bason was unrepentant. "We knew some people would be offended by them. But they prefer to ignore the facts of the world we live in these days," he said.

How do they equate bin Laden with Hussein and Arafat? Or is just any ole spooky man with brown skin good enough to use as a fearmongering tool?

4. Just when I thought there was SOME sanity left in this town...

this shit happens. For the record, a good chunk of Dallasites are NOT represented by these fools. 49% of Dallas County went Dem on Nov 2nd. I wish there was a local lib station/businesses that would rent some billboards showing the reality of the shrub regime in response to KLIF.

6. The lib pockets are hidden and are afraid to speak up

For example, my Dem parents live in fear for their lives down in Burleson. Yeah, there are some excellent lib pockets in DFW, but you have to know where to look, LOL! And they're all shouted down by the Bush lovers who work to make sure everyone tows the correct line.

I still get homesick, though; maybe I'm a bit of a masochist?;)

10. There may still be some hope...

Scanning the Dallas Morning News' LTTE section sometimes has more anti-Bush letters than pro---I am always shocked when right winged DMN publishes them. Now whether the people that write these letters are brave enough to use their real names, who knows :D
I still don't think it is a coincidence that DMN circulation numbers are tanking AND the local demographics are changing/Dallas County 49% Dem votes, etc... maybe if these same people would contact KVIL's advertisers and threaten to boycott the area businesses that have commercial time on the station, it would make some sort of impact.

My county had a voting booth in a local mosque on Nov 2nd and the local freepers were raising HOLY HELL about that. It was probably listeners of this station.
