Kennedy fears becoming tabloid fodder; gets quick taste
ALBANY, N.Y. -- KENNEDY: DON'T MAKE ME TABLOID FODDER!

The plea appeared to fall on deaf ears almost immediately after The Associated Press reported on Monday that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was talking to top Democrats about running for state attorney general, a race that could pit him against his estranged brother-in-law, Andrew Cuomo.

Kennedy, an environmental lawyer, is a son of slain New York Sen. Robert F. Kennedy. Cuomo, the former federal housing secretary, is the elder son of former New York Gov. Mario Cuomo.

"Sons of RFK, Mario eye Spitzer job," read the New York Daily News' Tuesday headline.

Even The New York Times couldn't resist the front-page headline: "Only in New York: Kennedys, Cuomos And Voters, Oh, My."

Later that day, Kennedy was telling New York 1, the New York City-based all-news channel, that he would decide by the end of the month whether to run.

"If I run, it's to talk about issues, not to become tabloid fodder," Kennedy said.

2. What a goddamn shame that this history exists between them...
...they're both excellent choices for NYS AG.

3. RFK Jr has a huge burden but is an incredible talent.
I saw him six months ago on CSPAN do an extemp talk for about 20 minutes without notes and it was one of the most eloquent statements of the challenges of our times I've ever heard.

Unfortunately that heroin bust probably rules him out for AG. But it would be great if some role could be found for him in the public arena. He is an enormously capable individual.

4. I agree. I saw him in Sept at Fightingbob fest.
He was magnificent. Talked mostly about the environment but brought some of us to tears when he talked about going abroad with his Dad when the US was so well liked.

His Aunt Rosemary, who died last week at Jefferson Wisconsin, was also there in a wheel chair. After he spoke he went over to her and gave her a kiss.
