Wash. GOP Files Governor's Race Challenge
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story2&u=/ap/20050123/ap_on_el_gu/washington_governor

The state's Republicans, still pressing their court challenge to the disputed governor's election, have filed a separate challenge with the state Legislature.

"We did this to cover all our bases," said Mary Lane, a spokeswoman for Dino Rossi, the Republican who narrowly won the original vote count and a mandatory recount. In a hand recount, he lost to Democrat Christine Gregoire by 129 votes out of 2.9 million cast.

Gregoire was sworn into office Jan. 12.

Republicans have filed a legal challenge against the hand recount in Chelan County Superior Court, saying mistakes were made and calling for another statewide vote. That same challenge was filed with the Legislature Friday evening, "as an insurance policy," Lane said Saturday.

The challenge, however, goes to the Democrat-controlled Legislature, which certified the election Jan. 11 despite a GOP request for a two-week delay.

1. F*ck them

We really won in Washington state. They didn't really win for the US election. Bush cannot get more votes than there are voters. Plain and simple.

2. buncha 'whinners' and 'loosers'
From the article:

"The Republicans are in a hopeless situation," Brost said. "What we have seen in the last couple weeks is them floundering and grasping at straws trying to find some way to undo the election results."

pass the kleenex.

4. Could this story be any more biased?
This is a textbook case of corporate media whoredom. "...Dino Rossi, the Republican who narrowly won the original vote count and a mandatory recount. In a hand recount, he lost to Democrat Christine Gregoire by 129 votes out of 2.9 million cast."

Notice how the story casts Rossi as the winner, doesn't mention the spotty nature of the first recount, and doesn't mention that Rossi "won" it by something like 42 votes. Also mentions the "Democrat-controlled Legislature" which certified "despite a GOP request for a two-week delay."

Big, bad Dems! How dare they spoil Rossi's party?

5. The New World Order - Bush v. Gore
We do not live in a Democracy, friends.

In a democracy, a re-vote might be the thing to do in this case. However, the precedent that Bush v. Gore set was that uninterrupted government superceded determining the will of the people.

If this were 1999, I would probably concede to a re-vote, based on the razor thin margin of victory, or some other method of clarifying the election results.

However, precedent indicates that uninterrupted government supercedes the will of the people, thanks to Bush v. Gore. If this bastardization of Democracy is to be undone, it will be through an awakening of the people to the fact that their voice has been effectively silenced. Until then, we must live with our new Oligarchy.

I'm very glad that the Democrat candidate won this round, indicating that both major parties are now willing to exploit the new type of government we have, providing some much needed balance.

6. What part of "lost" don't they understand?
I have to say I'm enjoying this. Here is a group of people so spoiled, entitled and used to having their way they can't accept the fact it's over even though Gregoire has settled into the daily tasks of Governor.

I also love the huge target they are presenting. At this point whenever they open their mouths it's lies, rhetoric and contradiction. Pretty rich stuff if you've been following.

8. Gore and the Dems would have never been given a free pass like this from
the press back in 2000. Where's Scarborough and O'Lielly bitching about "getting over it?" I don't hear the pundits whining and complaining about "accepting their loss". Just goes to show how much more patience we have for Republican lunacy. I say we give them a taste of their own medicine and rub it in their faces of what a bunch of sorry ass sore losers they really are.

I feel inspired, whats the big newpaper in Seattle or Spokane? I think I've got the sudden urge to write a letter. Who will join me?
