US likely 'to double bin Laden bounty'
Edited on Sun Jan-23-05 02:11 PM by cal04
THE US is likely to double the bounty on al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden to $US50 million ($66m), according to a Time magazine report.

The Bush administration has been hunting the al-Qaeda chief since the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington with no success, despite US troops scouring Afghanistan's mountainous border with Pakistan where bin Laden is believed to be hiding.

The Time report said the White House was likely to hike the bounty on bin Laden by the end of February, acting on legislation passed in November by Congress.

The report said the US State Department would also be mounting a new publicity blitz in a bid to snare the Saudi dissident.

2. Oh, yeah, there are a lot of people who said "$25 million, no way, now if
it was $50, THEN I would tell you where he is hiding".:eyes:

That was my thought
If a person isn't going to rat out bin Laden for $25 million dollars, then why would they rat him out for $50 million dollars? If I knew where bin Laden is today, I might wait for the U.S. to raise the bounty to $100 million.

What's interesting is why is American upping the ante. Getting desperate?

3. Need SOME good news
After Iraq goes sour in the next few months, and we have an evacuation resembling that of Saigon, Bush will have no public approval. And he will have the sins of his domestic policy (robbing us blind) to defend. This is the legacy of Bush, the PNAC, and the whole Neo-Conservative movement.

And then we have to pick up the pieces...

11. Give it up. The 'boogeyman' is long gone................................
All the gold in Ft. Knox couldn't bring him in.

Same goes for boogeyman #2, Al-Zarqawi.

12. Dead or Alive?
Is the bounty good if bin Laden is dead or alive? If so, maybe Steve McQueen will hunt bin Laden down.

14. Who are they borrowing the money from?
If 25 million didn't do the trick, I doubt 50 million will. Of course if they plan to take him out of the freezer, this could be part of the back story.

15. proof positive this Administraation can be bought, starving Iraqis
and Afghans and pakistanis cannot be bought for 25 million or 50 million.

How sad that America can only sink to the dollar and not truth, and justice.

19. You must admit, Osama's got pretty eyes
In every photo, he seems rather beautifu... and though i am told that
i must hate him by our propaganda, i can't say i don't find him pretty.

In my whole life, people generally appear as they are, as much as bush
and his neocons can make me dry heave by their mere appearance, osama
appears a sweetie. We've never seen any evidence beyond some rhetoric,
much as we all, writers of DU, post here in our timeless hours.

Zarahwi could be different, but osama seems not the tyrant they make
him out to be.... Considering that the liars who indict him have now
murdered 10 times as many innocents as they claim he once did, it
begs the question of who is in the moral position to accuse whom.

20. Double? Why not triple? Quadruple?
These idiots have no intention of looking for OBL, let alone paying for his capture.
If $25 million didn't lure anyone to turn him in, I seriously doubt $50 mil will. I can see some Afghan tribesman huddling in a cave thinking, "25 mil? Not good enough. I'm gonna wait til they sweeten that deal"
