Nevada Judge Throws Out Lap-Dance Law
January 23, 2005, 9:00 PM EST

LAS VEGAS -- A Las Vegas law prohibiting strippers from fondling customers during lap dances is unconstitutionally vague, a judge ruled. District Court Judge Sally Loehrer affirmed a lower court ruling that as many as five misdemeanor criminal cases filed against Las Vegas strippers should be dismissed.

Friday's ruling affects only dancers within city limits. The Clark County Commission in 2002 limited touching between strippers and patrons during private lap dances, specifically barring strippers from touching or sitting on the customer's genital area.

But the municipal code was not as specific, saying only that strippers and their patrons should not "fondle" or "caress" each other.

City attorneys told Loehrer touching is illegal when dancers engage in contact aimed at sexually arousing the customer. But defense lawyer James Colin argued the lack of specifics makes it impossible to enforce the law.

"It's too confusing," Colin said. "No one knows."

Under Loehrer's ruling, no dancer in the city can be arrested for violating the municipal code. The city is considering an appeal.

1. Damn! I'm glad it's still legal. I need a job! Lap dancing doesn't
sound so strenuous and this old woman needs a sit-down job!

That little blue sanctuary in the middle of a red state (that will soon be full of nice shiny green nuclear waste).

Though Nevada is probably the most libertarian of the all the red states. I can't help but think that if we nominated a pro-gun candidate we could win in Nevada.

8. IMO Only The Creepiest Guys On The Planet Would Pay For This
However, if they want to pay for it and scuzzy chicks want to charge, whatever...

10. Hey...
you are right, but the "scuzziest people" are now the norm at strip clubs. I have been in the biz for 11 years, and am a "dollhouse" type girl. I can't make a dime over $50 most nights anymore, because I won't rub. Now, no lectures/advice to change professions/etc.; this is my chosen life and I love it, but most people have no idea what a corporate business model it has become, cheap expendable labor and bottom dollar driven-just like everyone else. Noone wants to pay for the fantasy anymore. Go fig.

11. That's The Rub!
Yep I mean if the whole idea is to give some stranger a hard-on guess what? Guys in that condition often like to actually be gotten off, if that is the correct verb. So def if you don't want to cross that line, that is, be a prostitute, it would then follow you would have to be a poorly paid chaste lapdancer....

There is one of those places by my house and it shares the parking lot with this mall, a bunch of stores, and I swear, the ugliest guys in the world go in there. Real toads, pock-marked, missing teeth, you name it. If figures though because a really sexy guy can make his fantasies happen, by being good at making the woman's happen as well.

I'm not gonna lecture you but obviously you know this is a short-lived career? People don't do this when they're 40, do they? Save your money!
