Little resistance in US Congress to providing additional Iraq funds: lawma
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20050125/pl_afp/usiraqbudgetpolitics&cid=1521&ncid=1480

WASHINGTON (AFP) - Despite concern over the ballooning US budget deficit, lawmakers in Congress said it was all but certain they will grant President George W. Bush (news - web sites)'s full request for an additional 80 billion dollars for military operations in Iraq (news - web sites) and Afghanistan (news - web sites).

"We've got to watch every dollar that we spend ... but I don't want to nickle and dime this effort," Republican Senator Jeff Sessions told AFP Tuesday.

"We want to complement the success in Afghanistan with another great success in Iraq. I think the president will get what he asked for," the Alabama lawmaker said.

Moderate Republican Senator Susan Collins said that spiraling costs in Iraq take a backseat to providing adequate equipment and supplies to US forces.

"I am concerned about the cost, but on the other hand we want to and need to provide our troops with everything they require," she said.

Democrats said the funds would likely be approved, but not before a long and loud congressional debate.

"I think there will be a lot of questions and challenges about what is the plan, where is this money going, how is it being spent?" Senator Hillary Clinton (news - web sites).

3. they are not caught in a vice grip for crying out loud!
They need to call the repukes on their lies. Like this....

Condi, when the hell are we getting out of Iraq? It appears as there is no plan to leave when the USA is spending BILLIONS of dollars on FOURTEEN Permanent Bases and a Multi-Million Dollar Permanent Communications system there! It sounds and looks like the USA is planning a Permanent Presence in IRAQ!!!

Not too hard. A 15 year old could do it.

9. Sorry Chick but it'll never happen, the Dems are really mostly
repugs in Dem clothing and the few that are not are running scared. They kiss butts but still get kicked in the teeth, because they don't realize that butts are not the way. Of course many of them actually agree with the repugs. So, sorry, no call out.

11. When the Last Lie Dies
Edited on Tue Jan-25-05 10:18 PM by jmcgowanjm
"HOW DO YOU ASK SOMEONE TO BE THE LAST MAN TO DIE FOR A MISTAKE?"

Continuing with the inevitable logic of his argument,
Senator Kerry would have HAD to state in his speech that
as President, he would withdraw America's military from
Iraq, regardless of the situation, within six months at
most.

America dreams alone: The rest of the world has woken from
the "American dream" - or nightmare, to be exact -
while Americans can no longer tell fantasy from
reality

The Dems are firmly embedded w/ the Republicans
Bush just gave the most bellicose, biblical
inauguration speech in USHistory.
Dems only hope is SS/Medicaire.

Millions are about to die.
How many will be Americans.

The World will stop Bush. The Dems will come down
out of the hills to shoot the wounded.

Right now it looks like Israel will be our
AustroHungarian Empire.

20. I was done with Kerry when...
..he said he would send more troops to Iraq, and then recently on his little trip to M.E. he said that Israel's security (genocide on the Palestinians is more like it) is a top priority for the US...I threw a shoe at the TV and hit him in the head for that one...Kerry needs to take O'Reilly's advice and SHUT UP!

I am ashamed that I voted for him or any one in this two party fascist government! Corporate America...:eyes:

4. I called my conman on this today
His aide sighed when she heard my voice (I do call a lot)I told her I expected an accounting for the money, and wanted to know exactly how much was going to directly help the troops with armor, etc (hey, if I talked to him about the immorality of the war,he would turn me off and not even answer me). Should be interesting to see what he writes in his letter to me.

6. "We want to complement the success in Afghanistan"
Thats simple, leave the "insurgents" to grow opium poppies, or pump oil for themselves.

7. Since no one today is paying for this war
Congresscritters feel there is no need to vote against the spending.

Make this budget neutral and see how fast it gets stalled.

10. Vote NO for NO CONFIDENCE in Bush's competence
The grand experiment is at an end. Bush is a total and absolute failure, and giving that band of dolts more power through more appropriations is worse than merely voting for Rice's confirmation.

They won't question a damn thing. They will just continue to loot the treasury until it's all gone. And dopey Americans will let them do it.

Our Senate...laughing all the way to their banks.

15. I am fucking sick over this...
Our country is being raped by these criminals and no one has the freakin' balls to stand up against them. They are going to keep taking whatever they want and doing whatever they want because they know that no one can stop them.

Will this nightmare ever end??

Dems have passed everything else the president wants, confirming criminals to office, tax cuts for the rich, deregulation for corporations to pollute our environment, oil exploration in wildlife reserves, no child left behind, anti-torture clause taken out of bill, patriot act, and the list just goes on and on...Dems Repukes, one in the same...they all make me sick!:puke:

It's time for a third party, overthrow them ALL!

STOP BITCHING, START A REVOLUTION!
