Gitmo Prisoners Attempt Mass Suicide in Protest

U.S. military officials confirm that 23 captives being held at the base at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba attempted a mass hanging in 2003 to protest their imprisonment. Originally, military officials said that a few of the prisoners engaged in “self-injurious behavior.” Since the camp was opened in January 2002, there have been 34 suicide attempts and 110 others called “self-harm incidents.” About 558 men were transported from the Middle East to Cuba and have been held for three years without charge or access to attorneys. 1. A mass suicide attempt
can hardly be brushed off as the average rate of suicide in the general population.

I hope Amnesty International and ICC eventually do something about this. This would be abhorrent if any country did it, but to think that our country does it is unbearable.

2. cruel and unusual punishment
is unconstitutional. Not being charged with a crime, having no access to an attorney, indeterminate imprisonment is unconstitutional. Beyond this, it is a violation of moral law. The torturing done there is in direct violation of the Geneva Convention.

Impeach Bush. Then try him for crimes against humanity.
