Yes, very encouraging.
No shame in losing. 8 is a vast improvement over the way the Dems have been rolling over lately.

I still say the Senate should have tortured Gonzalez, since he's such a fan of the practice.

29. Gonzales' nomination heads to the full Senate (Knight-Ridder)
<snip> The eight Democrats criticized Gonzales' role in a series of decisions that pushed the limits on interrogation methods and, they charged, paved the way for prisoner abuse from Iraq to the detention center at the U.S. naval base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, that they said had crippled America's standing in the world. <snip>

"My overwhelming problem with him is his judgment. It was just quite wrong," said Sen. Joseph Biden, D-Del.

"I don't think he was candid, and (his nomination) sends the wrong message to the rest of the world," said Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. <snip>

8. dems went against the whores' conventional wisdom
the whores all said very authoritatively that the dems didn't want to be seen as defending the rights of terrorists, the dems said fuck that, we want to be the party that's opposed to torture. :toast:

9. Who voted yes?
and are any of them up for re-election?

we need to make sure their constituents know they voted 'yes' on torture.

11. Yes Votes
Orrin Hatch _ UT
Charles Grassley _ IA
Arlen Specter _ PA
Jon Kyl _ AZ
Mike DeWine _ OH
Jeff Sessions _ AL
Lindsey Graham _ SC
Larry Craig _ ID
Saxby Chambliss _ GA
John Cornyn _ TX

Frankly, however, I don't think any of them will suffer at the polls for this.

21. I had some hopes for Lindsey Graham.
I remember the "Torture Hearings".

Lindsey Graham was Righteously Outraged by the scandal. He stated "on the record" that {paraphrase} he would NOT be satisfied if only a few low ranking people are scapegoated. It was clear to him that this was a policy that was encouraged and condoned by officials at the top.

Looks like he forgot, and now officially endorses torture.
Someone should replay his performance at the Torture Hearings for him.

It DID make a good video clip for the people back home.

28. Grassely sure won't
It is amazing to me how my fellow Iowans buy in to this guy's load of hogshtit. He votes with the Dems until it matters and then stabs us in the back...the uninformed voters hear him talk about bipartisan cooperation and believe it.

We need a real candidate to stand up to this puke the next go round.

10. Is this indicative of something?
I'm hoping that this is a sign of the times to come. Hopefully Dems are going to pull together and exercise themselves as a solid minority party....

16. We have to call and thank them for voting against Gonzales
But I think first we should wait for the final vote on Condie.

They're voting right now.

That dickhead Lieberman just voted to confirm Ricehead.

used on the Republicans to carry this off? I actually would rather believe it was blackmail than to believe that those Republicans really like torture.

27. Of those eight democrats, six voted yes for Rice
While thanking them for the Gonzales vote, also express your opinion on their Rice vote.

The two not voting for Rice are Sens. Kennedy and Durbin

23. A previous nominee fraud (The Aviator)--led to coup d'etat in USA
Here's the case of a past nominee who was allowed to use a double identity to both defraud and betray the people (JFK assassination included)

Howard Hughes, who is portrayed as The Aviator in the recent film, appears to have used a double identity—one that will shock the reader and throw some of recent history into doubt. This is a story of murders, treason, double identity and the mob. Take a look at the photos on the following link, then read the article beneath the photos. http://www.newsmakingnews.com/helmslobuono.htm This is a story you’ll want to share with your friends. Would the US government lie to us? The Hughes case wouldn’t be the first time.

Scorcese got the last years of the story wrong, apparently. Howard Hughes didn’t go crazy and disappear from public view, as has been popularly portrayed. Instead, he kept his head and got a career in US intelligence, it seems. Reader beware: this one is a shocker.

26. Finally!
It's about damn time.

The Dems were really disappointing me with Rice. I'm glad they showed some spine with Gonzales!

This is good news. I'm surprised - even Fienstein and Biden...
