G.O.P. Will Ask Giuliani to Challenge Mrs. Clinton
By MICHAEL SLACKMAN

Published: January 26, 2005

The chairman of the New York State Republican Party said yesterday that he planned to ask former Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani to run against Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton in 2006, even while Mr. Giuliani's camp hinted that he had no desire to take on that race.

The chairman, Stephen Minarik, said in an interview yesterday that party leaders were discussing potential candidates to challenge Mrs. Clinton, but that his first choice would be for Mr. Giuliani to run.

"I think Rudy would be a great candidate for us," Mr. Minarik said. "I have not had a chat with him about it yet, but I am going to."

Throwing out Mr. Giuliani's name, even before the chairman spoke with him, may indicate just how much of a problem the Republicans face in coming up with a credible candidate to challenge Mrs. Clinton, Republican political strategists said.

1. Uh Oh.
With Hillary's GOP-Lite voting record, what's to keep New Yorkers from voting for their whoring former mayor?

Gee, Hillary, maybe if you had actually LISTENED TO YOUR OWN CONSTITUENTS about the Iraq War Resolution, your seat would not be in jeopardy, but you don't REAALLY care about them, do you? All you can think about is "Hillary '08".

Maybe you can cobble enough southern states for a win with your endorsement of faith-based crap & Bush's murderous war.

Don't count on my vote, though.
