Feds will audit Shelley's use of election reform money
I am willing to bet that the Repuke NV SofS and Sequoia is behind this and by 2006, California will be blanketed with the Sequoia machines and Dean Heller gets a huge benefit from it....

WASHINGTON (AP) - The federal commission that distributes election reform money to states has voted to audit millions in questionable expenditures overseen by California Secretary of State Kevin Shelley.

Shelley also is facing criminal investigations of his hiring practices and campaign fund-raising.

The US Election Assistance Commission also voted unanimously today to undertake a formal accounting of the 180 million dollars in federal funds sent to California.

A state audit released last month said the Democratic Seceretary of State mismanaged the funds, using some of it to pay employees and consultants for attending partisan events.

2. If he's done nothing wrong with the money
then an audit will clear him.

But I think a kneejerk defense of Shelley because he's a democrat is wrong. There's substantial evidence that he's done some very spurious things.

3. Has Shelley done worse than Blackwell?
Going after Shelley while giving Blackwell a pass is a bit like jailing Martha Stewart while Kenny Boy Lay is scot free!

5. Blackwell won't be investigated
any more than Katherine Harris was.

The message has been clear for a long time now- so long as you are Republican, laws don't apply to you.

4. Wrong
A united front against reactionary attacks is what we need today, not hand-wringing over some petty allegations. Republicans don't let their people hang.
