Bus, Tractor-Trailer Collide/NYS Police term "mass casualty accident"
Edited on Sat Jan-29-05 07:16 PM by LosinIt
A bus has reportedly collided with a tractor-trailer in Livingston County, resulting in a number of casualties.

The accident occurred just after 4:30 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Route 390 near Groveland Rd. in the town of Geneseo.

R News reporter Liz Medhin is on the scene. She reports that the bus apparently rear-ended the tractor-trailer and split in half as a result of the collision.

2. It was a Coach-Canada bus, it was split in two
from what I heard on the news, it ran into the back of the tractor trailer. I don't know if the driver fell asleep or was somehow incapacitated. I'll try to keep this updated with info. How absolutely frightening.

with some parents aboard. They had played a game in Rochester this afternoon and were headed south on Rt. 390 to Swain Ski Resort. A semi was parked alongside Rt. 390 so that the driver could relieve his dog. His wife was still inside the semi, she was injured. The bus swerved for some reason into the tractor-trailer, killing the driver and at least one more person. From an eyewitness: "It ripped the bus almost 3/4 of the way through. Mercy Flight sent 4 helicopters, at least 7 ambulances on site."

Sorry to editorialize, but how could any "God" allow something this horrific to happen? These young athletes were on what should have been an enjoyable trip and look what happens.

damn it.

The bus was carrying the Windsor (Ont.) Wildcats, a 19-and-under Canadian girls' hockey team. The Wildcats had played a morning game at the ESL Arena against the Edge, a girls' team from the Rochester Youth Hockey League. The two teams were scheduled to play again on Sunday.

The bus driver is still alive and police are interogating/guarding him. Because he is Canadian they are concerned that he might leave the country.

Here's another link. Horrible picture.
