Nun's Gay Outreach Angers Church
http://www.365gay.com/newscon05/01/013105nun.htm

The Archdiocese of Detroit says it canceled planned honors for a nun at a suburban church because her gay outreach mission is incompatible with Roman Catholic beliefs.

Sister Jeannine Gramick, 62, was to have been honored Sunday at St. Mary Parish in Royal Oak following a screening of a documentary film highlighting her work. But the reception had to be moved to because of objections by the archdiocese.

The reception was held after the screening at the Royal Oak Main Art Theatre as part of Reel Pride Film Festival, supported by the gay rights group the Triangle Foundation.

1. I See The Faith-Based Hatred And Bigotry Extends Even To Those Who...
show kindness and compassion and who reach out to those HORRID-HORRID SICK AND DISGUSTING HOMO-PERVERTS!! It all makes SO MUCH sense, doesn't it? :eyes:

Yes... Sister Gramick is SURELY the place where the RCC needs to focus it's scorn. She's clearly an evil woman for daring to accept people for who they are.

What is WRONG with those people?

I've said for years that the church heirarchy would like nothing more than to have nothing at all to do with gays. I've said for years that all the talk of "hate the sin" etc was a load of crap. I've said for years that the Church in general was never serious about treating gay people in general with the least, smallest scintilla of respect or dignity.

Looks like I was right.

I'm done even trying to defend the Roman Catholic Church. IMO the whole world would be better off if that organization simply did not even exist.

Fuck 'em. I'm done being nice, I'm done being tolerant, I'm done trying to "reach out". It's pointless, makes me a target, and is a complete and utter waste of time. Sorry, good members of this church- you are on your own. Forget about getting any help from the likes of me....

Sorry to rant, but I'm just..... done.

3. Don't worry Sister Jeannine
I recall another person who ran into big trouble with the religious authorities because he had the audacity to minister to prostitutes and quislings just like they were real people in direct opposition to the popular prejudices of his day.

Your ministry has a long and honorable past. Keep it up, Sister.

9. among the many reasons I ceased being Catholic years ago . . .
the Church refuses to leave the Middle Ages behind and address contemporary issues with intelligence and compassion . . . the primacy of dogma in Catholicism places them firmly outside the reality-based community . . .
