Colombia-Venezuela is officially over.
“In its fight against terrorism and in the execution of its democratic security policy, Colombia applies and will continue to apply existing legal procedures, according to its rule of the law tradition”, reads the communiqué adding that when anti terrorism policy demands the participation of other countries, particularly brothers and neighbours, Colombia “will continue to look for coordination with their governments according to principles and norms which guide police and judicial cooperation”.

The Colombian government is prepared to review recent and well known events, “so that if they have been inconvenient for the Republic of Venezuela, they will not be repeated”.

---

President Uribe administration has repeatedly claimed that Venezuela acts as a sanctuary for Colombian guerrillas.
Venezuelan vicepresident Jose Vicente Rangel from Caracas stated that the way the “impasse” was overcome is evidence that both countries have the capacity to solve difficult situations.

But he also blamed United States for interfering and acting as a “provocateur”.

1. "Provocateur" is a good description for the U.S.
in South and Latin America.

9. We are like the Romulan Empire!
Cloaking ourselves and pretending to be someone else doing the treachery.

2. Notice they didn't call Venezuela by its proper name.
It is the "Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela," but Colombia excluded "Bolivarian." When the fascist coup took place, they immediately changed the name, restoring the old title. But these are new times, and the fascists will fall in Bogota too.

By remaining in power as long as Chavez has, he is truely one of the most remarkable men of our times. Hopefully he can survive what is coming next.

5. I read your first link last week, it reveals more than we hear, here.
Only determined readers ever find out about these things, as they aren't considered valuable enough by our own MSM to acknowledge, even though Bush is involved in this treachery up to his pretzel attack scars.

From that article:
More important, Uribe has been a long-time, large-scale practitioner of death squad politics prior to his ascendancy to the Presidency and prior to receiving large scale US aid.

By borrowing the Bush Doctrine from his patron-state, Uribe has internationalized the terror practices which he has pursued for the past 20 years within Colombia.
Prior to the recent spate of high profile trans-border kidnapping (Trinidad in Ecuador, Granda in Venezuela), the Uribe regime has engaged in frequent interventions, kidnapping and assassinating popular leaders and soldiers from bordering countries, and providing material and political support to would-be 'golpistas,' especially in Venezuela.

Dozens of Colombian refugees fleeing marauding death squads have been pursued into Venezuela and killed or kidnapped over the past three years by Colombian paramilitary and security forces.

Six Venezuelan soldiers were killed by Colombian security forces in an "unexplained" incident. More recently, in 2004, over 130 Colombian paramilitary forces and other irregulars were infiltrated into Venezuela to engage in terrorist violence - to trigger action by Venezuelan-US coup-makers.

Wonderful news in the orignal post. Isn't it a shock to see one of Bush's puppets accusing Bush of acting as a provocateur. We have all known that all along, but seeing the puppet admit this in a public statement is TOTALLY UNEXPECTED.

6. Unfortunately, it was Rangel that said Shrub was a provocateur.
But Colombia did back down somewhat, and the meeting is in Venezuela
to smooth things out.

11. Yup, you're right. It was Vice-President Rangel. Wishful thinking
must have gotten the best of me after reading it the first time!

I hope other strong Venezuelan officials besides Rangel will start coming forward. It looks as if it's going to take a united front in their government to handle all the rough stuff Bush plans to throw at the Venezuelan people's twice land-slide chosen President.

8. Have you read the second link? What do you think about
it says about the Condi plan hinging on Columbia's Uribe and that this kidnapping is only a test run?

From reading the second article, the idea that El Salvador, Portugal, Israel, Peru, Mexico, Colombia, Italy, France, and Spain are all aligned with the US in the next attempt to overthrow Chavez is quite daunting.

12. Oh, god. Was in a hurry first time. Just read it. Glad I was sitting down.
It looks REALLY bad, doesn't it? I'm hoping this gang will unravel in time.

That article is simply overwhelming. As soon as I heard the Venezuelan government had rounded up over 100 Colombian right-wing paramilitaries near Caracas, at the ranch of Roberto Alonso, Cuban "exile," living next door to Gustavo Cisneros, mass media owner, friend of George H. W. Bush's I knew something very serious is in the works. Those guys were all armed, too.

HANDS OFF VENEZUELA. Bush should keep his gnarly nose at home, and work on straightening out the mess he has made.

13. Chavez Blasts 'U.S. Imperialism' as Social Forum Draws to Close
More Venezuela poop.

PORTO ALEGRE, Brazil (AP) - As the fifth World Social Forum wound to a close, Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez blasted U.S. imperialism, and leftist activists said the outcome of the Iraqi election doesn't translate into democracy.

Sporting a red shirt embossed with a picture of the revolutionary Che Guevera, Chavez received a hero's welcome Sunday in southern Brazil, where activists greeted him with cries of "Here comes the boss!"

Tens of thousands of people are attending the six-day gathering held to protest the simultaneous World Economic Forum in Switzerland, railing against the spread of corporate-sponsored capitalism.

While the economic forum ended Sunday, the social forum's final day is Monday, the same day the United States was supposed to close a deal to create a 34-nation Free Trade Area of the Americas stretching from Alaska to Argentina.

14. Sand Flies Hamper Colombian Offensive Against Rebels
More Colombia poop.

TRES ESQUINAS MILITARY BASE, Colombia (AP) - Colombian Army troops must dodge land mines and ambushes in their offensive against rebels in the jungle, but one of their biggest obstacles is the lowly sand fly.

Leishmaniasis, caused by sand-fly bites that produce nasty open sores and swelling, now forces more troops from the battlefield into hospitals than gunshots and mine blasts combined. It has hampered the army's unprecedented onslaught to wipe out the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.

Caused by a parasite living in the sand fly's gut, the disease is found in parts of 88 countries, mostly tropical or subtropical. U.S. soldiers in Iraq call it "Baghdad boil," and last year, hundreds of them had to be ferried home for treatment.

In Colombia, about 2,500 soldiers were hospitalized last year for leishmaniasis - up more than threefold from 2003 and more than double the 1,150 injured in combat, Defense Ministry officials said.
