Senate Makes a Curb on Abortion Likely
Senate Makes a Curb on Abortion Likely
The New York Times
http://www.nytimes.com/2003/09/18/politics/18ABOR.htm

The first federal law that would restrict a woman's right to abortion moved a step closer to President Bush's signature today ...

...would outlaw the late-term procedure that opponents call partial-birth abortion...

...The move to ban the late-term procedure has been a centerpiece of the anti-abortion movement for eight years. If President Bush signs the measure, advocates for abortion rights say, it will be the first time that Congress has banned a safe medical procedure.

1. I told one of my friends in my district that we need to have
parades with women with blood soaking their lower half...they use dead fetuses...why not have women showing what happens from a botched abortion?

4. Never call someone who is anti-choice a pro-lifer...because
it is impossible to be so. And most of them favor war and the death penalty.

3. Argghhhhhh
I hate these people. Especially majority leader Rick S. - what an ass, he could care less about the health of the woman.

The anti-abortion mob aren't quite so rabid here in Oz - less fundamentalist christians helps I guess - although we did recently have our first murderous "pro-lifer" who shot and killed a security guard (who was a father of five) at a clinic and were it not for the efforts of two men in with their partners he would have probably killed more as he was armed to the teeth.

We need our own signs and slogans - that photo that W magazine used years ago was pretty powerful.

Either that or some organised protests in front of the homes and workplaces of the more widely known anti abortion nazis. Their response to criticism of protests is usually that "it's a free country" so presumably I could set up a loud, intimidating protest out the front of Margaret Tighe's (our most prominent womb policeman) workplace or home and if she finds it uncomfortable explaining to her boss/colleagues/children/neighbours why the protesters are there, well bad luck "it's a free country"
