Nice moral values displayed here. They didn't get their way, so they're threatening to kill her. Newly-inaugurated Governor Chris Gregoire of Washington state is getting round-the-clock protection from the Washington State Patrol after receiving death threats. The gubernatorial election has been a hot-button issue on right-wing talk radio after the unprecedented near-photo-finish and two recounts, the last of which reversed the election results and awarded the office to Gregoire, a Democrat.

Dino Do-Over can't possibly believe at this point that he has any chance of changing the outcome, so the longer he and his supporters publicly pout, the sooner his political career will be over. And that will be a fine day.

OLYMPIA -- After a statewide recount, Republican Dino Rossi held onto his lead in the Washington governor's race Wednesday by a mere 42 votes out of more than 2.8 million cast. His Democratic rival refused to concede and said she wants a hand recount.

Rossi, a businessman who ran as a "conservative with a social conscience," declared victory and urged Attorney General Christine Gregoire to concede. "It's time for our state to move forward," he said in a statement.

She said she got a death threat, but added: "I'm not going to be deterred by any of that. I got death threats, frankly, when I was attorney general. I've got a job to do, but I'm also going to be smart (about security considerations). I owe that to the citizens of the state and I will listen to the chief of the state patrol."

She said blamed "the level of discussion on some of these talk radio shows" for whipping up people.
