Two Delta Jetliners Arrive At JFK With Inflight Emergencies
WNBC-TV

NEW YORK - There appears to be an emergency situation at JFK Airport, NewsChannel 4 has learned.

Two incoming Delta flights declared in-flight emergencies.

A senior government official tells NBC Flight 119 from Amsterdam received phoned-in hijack threat and was being taken to an isolated location at JFK, being met by Port Authority Police, using the same procedures as hijacking.

Flight 81, coming from Paris, has also landed, after a phoned-in hijack threat.

Cockpits are secure, and operations are normal on the airplanes.

Officials are not sure if this was two threats from one phone call.

1. Strange.
You'd think people would know that a 9/11-style attack could only be pulled off once.

Any passengers would assume the worst and attempt to wrest control of the plane back now.

4. Yeah, once you learn more, this reeks of a prank...
"Called-in" highjack warning?

At least I certainly hope it's a prank.

This sounds like the "tip" that the Feds got about the Chinese terrorists and the dirty bomb in Boston.

34. I don't think the authorities took it very seriously...
They let the planes land in NY. When it's something really dangerous, like Cat Stevens on board, they divert planes to Maine or send them back to Europe.

13. The terrorists will have refined their techniques, too
If we accept at face-value the story that passengers wrested control of Flight 93 from the terrorists, then we should realize that this is common knowledge. If it is, you can bet that the "bad guys" have already taken this sort of reaction into account.

Perhaps they will incapacitate all of the passengers (gas released into the aircraft will quickly circulate) before they take action.

The technological hubris we had was quickly proven false on 9/11. We shouldn't underestimate terrorists again.

6. So far, everything is fine
MSNBC is reporting that both planes have landed, the passengers have de-planed, and there one "person of interest" who is being questioned.

They say that both planes landed without incident.

15. Yeah, they kept changing the story on MSNBC
First, supposedly, the threat was "called in," then, they reported that it was a "tip," then they claimed that the call-in was warning of hijackers already on board.

???

http://www.wnbc.com/news/4166354/detail.html

NEW YORK -- Two Delta flights from Europe have landed without incident at Kennedy Airport in New York, after authorities reportedly received telephone threats of a hijacking.

A New York television station, WNBC, reported that Flight 119 from Paris and Flight 81 from Amsterdam were named in separate threats. There was no breach of the cockpits.

A spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration confirmed that there was a hijack threat called in to the National Transportation Safety Board concerning the flight from Paris. She said the plane was isolated in New York, and authorities have questioned the passengers, who've been allowed off the plane.

She said authorities are also questioning passengers on the other flight.

The spokeswoman said Delta reports that both flights were routine.

21. If this is the terra-ists...
Could this be the terra-ists testing to see how the authorities respond to hi-jackings post 9/11?

But then again I am in the MIHOP group, so I guess I should be saying:

Could this be the CIA testing to see how the authorities respond to hi-jackings post 9/11?

Just a question.

Planes Land After Reportedly Receiving Threats

Feb 4, 2005 3:59 pm US/Eastern

(1010 WINS) (NEW YORK) Two inbound Delta Airline flights that reportedly had received separate threats landed without incident at John F. Kennedy International Airport Friday afternoon. Officials said the pilots were questioned and they reported no problems.

A spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Steve Coleman, said that at about 12:45 p.m., his agency, which operates the airport, received a number of reports, subsequently found to be erroneous, from "various federal agencies."

He said the reports alleged first that there were seven "people of interest" on Delta Flight 119 from Bombay, India, via Paris, to New York. A follow-up report said only one "person of interest" was on the plane.

A third report -- also erroneous, Coleman said -- had the plane being escorted to Kennedy Airport by F16 fighters.

Also, there was some confusion, he said, about which flight was the subject of the perceived threat. Delta Flight 81 was due to land from Amsterdam at about the same time.

"The Port Authority took the necessary precautions and mobilized," Coleman said.

Port Authority and federal law enforcement agents questioned both pilots and determined "there was absolutely no problem on board either flight," Coleman said

30. I want to know WHICH Fed agencies made the false reports!!!!
What can we do to keep this info in the spolight? I want the reporters to dig hard enough to find out what agencies made these "erroneous" reports!

Do you realize what havoc this causes at an airport, to the airline, to the passengers, and to the FAA folks involved?

Do these agencies have trigger happy employees, or are they republicans trying to keep the fear factor high???

lately? Is something coming down the line they want us all to be prepared to deal with? Or business as usual from the propaganda ministry?

They are proclaiming a name, that matched something, triggered this whole thing... the second flight might have just been because of confusion. Sounds kind of fishy, if you ask me?
