Clarkmania! : Supporters Mob Gen. Clark on First Campaign Stop |
|
HOLLYWOOD, Fla. (Reuters) - Hundreds of Florida well-wishers mobbed Gen. Wesley Clark on Thursday when he made his first campaign stop since declaring that he was joining nine other Democrats in the 2004 race for the White House. 6. is Dean old news already? |
|
geeze, I finally get on-board with somebody and a new unifier -- endorsed by both Clintons -- becomes an overnight sensation with a broad cross-section of Dems. Do I get with the program and line-up behind the handsome general or stick with the pit-bull from Vermont?
On thing's for sure -- we've seen the last of Edwards and Graham. They're kaput.

It'll probably be Clark or Dean and that's great news. I don't think that it's Edwards' time yet, but if he doesn't get the VP spot I'd sure like to see him as Attorney General. He'd put the Justice back in the Justice department. Graham never really was a contender, I don't think but he's been a wonderful voice, saying things that need to be said and saying them well. All the candidates except maybe one have been a huge plus and after the primaries are over I hope they're all still prominent voices.

8. I don't know who I will support yet |
|
but I think that if the General is at the top of the ticket, democrats running for the senate and the House in the South will get a boost. For example, if Graham decides not to run for the president and to run for reelection to the Senate, he will have a better chance with Clark as the nominee. Also, there are a lot of military retirees in Florida who supported Bush in the last election. I think some would go to Clark.
But as I said, I have not yet decided who I will support.

I agree 100 percent. BTW, piece sine, Dean is not old news. There are plenty of campaign threads about him here.

err, "uniting" both Clintons is not that big of an achievement, is it???
and as for "broad cross-section of dems", i don't think so either. notice that the article refers to "hundreds" of well-wishers for Clark, which is not bad but still short of the THOUSANDS who have massed for Dean's appearances.
quoting from the article: ``... "We're the envy of the whole world but we are trapped in a jobless economy and an endless occupation and that is the problem we have to address," Clark said. ...
The retired general has yet to lay out an economic or domestic agenda and declined to do so on Thursday. ...''

could mean his support by liberal and conservative Dem congresspeople? Just guessing here.

He just hasn't committed. Come on, you're being unfair aren't you? What if I said, "You've voted for Bush" because you haven't yet voted for someone else? See how silly I can get?

Clark did not discuss what pushed him to make Florida his first campaign stop . . . . . The state, whose Republican governor Jeb Bush is the president's brother, is seen as a key battleground for 2004 as Democrats say they are determined to avenge the loss.
Fuck Yeh!
