Iraqis dance in streets at troop attacks
http://www.theadvertiser.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5936,7316094%255E912,00.html

THREE US soldiers have been killed in an ambush near ousted Iraqi president Saddam Hussein's hometown, in the deadliest of a spate of attacks which brought celebrations by Iraqi residents.

<snip>

Witnesses in Khaldiyah reported seeing between four and eight badly burned US soldiers pulled out of the burning vehicle. A US military spokesperson said two soldiers were wounded.

Some 300 Iraqi demonstrators rejoiced in the attack, brandishing bits of US vehicles, hoisting portraits of Saddam and pledging to die for the dictator ousted by US-led forces in April.

Others danced joyously around at least two US vehicles engulfed in flames and thick black smoke.

...more...

aren't they supposed to be throwing flowers?

5. yeah what is up with this
We can't get a clear information on what happened yesterday in Khaldiyah. The world press says 8 dead, the US says 2 wounded. Someone is telling a falsehood here.

4. Gosh, they're just LOVING our ass!
Those happy Iraqis just can't get enough of Democracy Lite, the refreshing global panacaea that not only tastes great, but is less filling, with just one calorie per serving.

9. US press says something like 1300. But I read somewhere
that 6000 soldiers have been evacuated for "medical" reasons which could include pneumonia, attempted suicide, whatever. Big dif in numbers huh?

13. Hmm...
I wonder if FAUX News will run a clip of this dancing incident as much as they ran the one of Palestinians (I believe) "dancing in the streets" after the 9-11-01 attacks? They are "fair and balanced", right, and wouldn't employ a one-sided usage of footage to push an agenda, would they?

14. from Kipling's "A Pict Song"
Rome never looks where she treads.
Always her heavy hooves fall
On our stomachs, our hearts or our heads;
And Rome never heeds when we bawl.
Her sentries pass on -- that is all,
And we gather behind them in hordes,
And plot to reconquer the Wall,
With only our tongues for our swords

...

No indeed! We are not strong,
But we know Peoples that are.
Yes, and we'll guide them along
To smash and destroy you in War!
We shall be slaves just the same?
Yes, we have always been slaves,
But you -- you will die of the shame,
And then we shall dance on your graves!

15. If Anyone Watched Nightline The Other Night...
you would have heard and American field commander say that these people have been paid to do this. (I knew I shouldn’t have deleted that TiVo) If they don't even know the pulse of the general public in Iraq, how can we ever have any idea what drives the combatants. We keep hearing that we need linguists in Iraq to help with the subjugation, but didn't we discharge them all for being gay? The cretins running this operation are out of their league.
