Kennedy, DeLay Clash Over Criticism of Bush's Iraq Policy
Kennedy, DeLay Clash Over Criticism of Bush's Iraq Policy
By Lolita C. Baldor Associated Press Writer
Published: Sep 19, 2003

WASHINGTON (AP) - House Majority Leader Tom DeLay lashed out at Democratic Sen. Edward Kennedy for his criticism of President Bush's Iraq policy, describing the comments as a "new low" and calling on presidential candidates to repudiate the remarks.

In an interview with The Associated Press Thursday, Kennedy said the case for going to war against Iraq was a fraud "made up in Texas" to give Republicans a political boost and the money for the war is being used to bribe foreign leaders to send troops. Those words drew the wrath of Texas Republican DeLay.

In a statement released Friday, DeLay said Sen. John Kerry of Massachusetts and other Democratic presidential hopefuls should "have the courage" to repudiate Kennedy's remarks, which he called a "new low." And he said it was "disturbing that Democrats have spewed more hateful rhetoric at President Bush then they ever did at Saddam Hussein."

After a day's silence on the matter, the White House also responded to Kennedy's comments. (snip/...)

1. This is a good article
I'm glad Kennedy and Kerry didn't waffle at all. Somebody needs to take Delay and the administration to task. With force, too.

26. DeLay is scum
He's the one behind the Texas redistricting.

DeLay bows deeply to his corporate masters and licks their hands.

He is their LAP DOG.

32. Let's kick Delay's ass
Delay is the prototype playground bully. He is a coward. He literally needs to get his ass handed to him. Any Texas Undergrounders reading this thread? Got any free time this week-end? Picket his office, call the press first, come up with witty signs to piss off the bug/hatchet man.

Delay continues to bully because he isn't challenged. Time for him to get the smackdown. I would volunteer to go two on two. Me and Al Franken vs Rich Lowry and Tom Delay. I am seriously ready to kick some RWN behind.

Let me correct this

"disturbing that Republicans have spewed more hateful rhetoric at President Clinton then they ever did at Adolf Hitler."

I love this: "Kennedy dismissed DeLay's comments, saying that once again GOP leaders are avoiding questions about Bush's policies "by attacking the patriotism of those who question them."

18. The republican Bushshit tactic of attacking the patriotism of anyone
who questions Bush's policies will fail this time. This is because Whistle Ass's approval ratings are trending down steadily, especially among independent voters. Those independent voters will resent having their patriotism questioned. Instead of being uncertain about Whistle Ass they will begin to despise him. As they should.

The days of roll-over Democrats are fading- we will attack you day and night with the truth, we will never give up, never give quarter and never surrender. We won't quit until every dirty little repulikkkan scheme has been laid bare.

The Bugman had better get used to it, because once we're finished with Shrub, his ass is next!

12. Absolutely

With that evil witch Helen Chenowith safely tucked away in some militia bunker in Idaho, DeLay becomes my most hated Congressman (right up there w/ Don Young) and ANYthing other than complete and total repudiation of this maggot would be a disapointment.

Kerry and Kennedy should round house this little MF. He's a scourge of our democracy.

14. I hope we ALL do. Has anybody called their reps today?
Go to www.congress.org and get thee to the directory part - where everyone's phone numbers, locally and in Washington, are listed. I had to call the local numbers for my people, Feinstein, Boxer and Waxman, because apparently the Hurricane has everybody completely shut down on Capitol Hill.

Folks we MUST DO THIS!!! I can't wait til Monday morning to call Tom Delay's office and tell them where to stick it!

If I may, I would humbly suggest that everyone call their own reps in the Senate and Congress, AND somebody else's. Pick - oh - maybe even just ONE other. Dems are good because it'll reinforce their spines. Rethugs are good because they need to hear something other than the company line. They need to know that WE THE PEOPLE think Ted's correct!

Too late to do so today, but DO IT ON MONDAY, FIRST THING! Your democracy depends on it!

27. English, as eloquent and expressive as it can be...
is not adequate to describe creatures as low as Delay. We'd have to invent a whole new language to apply to him. He is vile, reprehensible, the lowest of the low. He exists to tear down and destroy anything good, or worthy of keeping as part of our national psyche.

Tom Delay represents everything that is wrong with the U.S. today. He is the model for "The Ugly American." Why the people in his district vote for him is a mystery I'm unable to fathom. He is pure evil.

43. I have some stupid questions
Did Saddam corrupt the American political system, by stealing a presidential election?

Did Saddam steal the surplus and turn it into a half a trillion dollar deficit?

Did Saddam turn back environmental safeguards to reward polluters?

Did Saddam try to bankrupt California by withholding energy, causing energy prices to skyrocket, then blame the Californians for this?

Did Saddam lie to us about Weapons of Mass Destruction?

When Saddam gassed his own people, who supplied the gas?

What's the most hatful thing Tom Delay ever said about Bill Clinton, how does this compare to what Ted Kennedy said about George Bush?

45. I wrote Patrick Kennedy about his RICO suit against DeLay
This case has been dropped BTW by a corrupt judge who was probably paid off by DeLay himself. Here's some of what Kennedy had to say about the bugman -

The suit alleges that DeLay extorted and laundered money through three organizations: the US Family Network, Americans for Economic Growth and the Republican Issues Majority Conference. The suit is being brought under federal RICO laws, which are commonly used to prosecute organized crime. {snip}

Kennedy went on to say that DeLay used "systematic extortion to coerce the use of millions of dollars for Republicans and to intimidate those who support Democrats. "Never before has a senior congressional and party leader devised a scheme like this," Kennedy said.

http://usconservatives.about.com/bln0503delay.htm

DeLay works pretty much the same as John Gotti did.

He's one of the GOPpies' biggest authorities on hate-spewing.

I wonder how they track hate-spewing? Do they have a special office at GOPpie headquarters to monitor hate-spewing to ensure that they are keeping their lead over the Dems?

jadedly,
